Lipase-mediated hydrolysis of castor oil on its biotransformation into γ-decalactone by Yarrowia lipolytica [PDF]
γ-Decalactone is a peach-like flavour compound that can be obtained biotechnologically by the biotransformation of ricinoleic acid. Castor oil is the substrate most usually used in the biotechnological production of γ-decalactone and it needs to be ...

Demonstration of an All‐Optical AND Gate Mediated by Photochromic Molecules
A logic AND gate that runs on photons is demonstrated. It relies on two spatially separated photochromic molecules that work in tandem. Abstract The realization of a photonic logic AND gate, i.e. a logic AND gate that runs on photons rather than electrons, and where all steps are controlled by light, is demonstrated. In a proof‐of‐principle experiment,

For the first time, a highly sensitive electrochemical biosensor based on SiO2‐based hairy particles with a grafted PDMAEMA polymer brush containing a quantifiable and large amount of immobilized Laccase is reported. The fabricated biosensor exhibits a sensitivity of 0.14 A·m⁻¹, a limit of detection (LOD) of 0.1 µm, and a detection range of 0.3–750 µm,

Castor bean is found in Chile between the Arica and Parinacota and Maule regions and is one the most important industrial crops worldwide because of the presence of ricinoleic acid in its oil. However, there is little information about it in our country.

The dielectric properties of clays are studied on the level of individual monolayers and functional double stacks. The material breakdown characteristics and charge storage performance are analyzed. For illustration, a defined charge pattern representing a cuneiform character is produced, written into a microscopic clay tile, referencing the origins of

Most matter is nominally frozen in the polar regions or space, and liquid crystal materials are no exception. Consequently, soft actuators, including liquid crystal elastomers (LCEs), are inoperative under such extreme cold in response to stimuli, as their motion relies on mechanical deformation.

pH‐Tunable Material Properties of Glycine‐Rich Condensates from Tick Bioadhesive
This work studies the influence of pH on the phase separation behavior of a disordered glycine‐rich protein found in tick bioadhesive. The results show profound impact on the propensity of coacervation, condensate microstructure and viscosity, amphiphilicity of the peptides, and effective encapsulation of therapeutic molecules.

Lipase induction in Yarrowia lipolytica for castor oil hydrolysis and its effect on γ-decalactone production [PDF]
γ-Decalactone is an aromatic compound of industrial interest, resulting from the biotransformation of ricinoleic acid, the major constituent of castor oil.
