Present‐Day Thermal State and Surface Heat Flux of the Moon

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Planets, Volume 130, Issue 12, December 2025.
Abstract The concentration of volcanic material and Heat‐Producing Elements (HPE) on the lunar nearside surface suggests an asymmetry of interior properties and thermal history between the two hemispheres. However, the distribution of HPE beneath the surface and the processes that led to their potential enrichment on the nearside remain poorly ...

Fermi-LAT detections of the classical novae V1723 Sco and V6598 Sgr in a multi-wavelength context

open access: yesAstronomy & Astrophysics
Context. Numerous classical novae have been observed to emit γ-rays (E > 100 MeV) detected by the Fermi-LAT. The prevailing hypothesis attributes this emission to the interaction of accelerated particles within shocks in the nova ejecta.

New Observations of the Old Magnetic Nova GQ Muscae

open access: yesOpen Astronomy, 2014
Photometric observations of GQ Mus performed between 1992 and 2011 are reported. We find that the total amplitude of the orbital modulation of its brightness decreased from ~ 0.9 mag in 1992 to ~ 0.2 mag in 2010, becoming comparable to the amplitude of ...

Insolvency and systemic risks: The macroeconomic costs of director duties in crisis

open access: yesAmerican Business Law Journal, Volume 62, Issue 4, Page 251-269, Winter 2025.
Abstract Traditional insolvency duties are designed to protect creditors, yet in times of financial crisis, they may lead to a wave of bankruptcies. This Article challenges the assumption that director insolvency duties always serve creditor interests, arguing that they can generate “congestion costs”—a surge in bankruptcy cases that overwhelms courts ...

Cataclysmic Variables - Concluding Remarks [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Astronomical Union Colloquium, 1987
Kitamura sensei, ladies and gentlemen: the remarks which follow will be the last communication by which our colloquium on cataclysmic variables is to be brought to its conclusion; and I appreciate the invitation of its organizing committee to use the remaining time we have together in the congenial atmosphere created for us at Bamberg, in an attempt at

Spectroscopic Follow-up on Potential Magnetic Cataclysmic Variables

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal
Spectroscopic observations of nine cataclysmic variables that have been postulated to contain magnetic white dwarfs were obtained to further characterize their classifications, orbital parameters, inclinations, and/or accretion properties.

Early Photometric and Spectral Evolution of Nova Cygni 2014 (V2659 Cyg)

open access: yesOpen Astronomy, 2015
We present optical spectroscopic and UBV (RI)C photometric observations of Nova Cygni 2014 (V2659 Cyg) from its rebrightening to the nebular stage. After the first maximum, the nova underwent several irregular flare-like rebrightenings, with amplitudes ...

Trauma, sociogenesis, and the work of societal healing after conflict: “All Rwandans are wounded”

open access: yesEthos, Volume 53, Issue 4, December 2025.
Abstract This article explores recurring problems in post‐conflict studies of trauma through the lens of evolving discourses of psychic woundedness in post‐genocide Rwanda. Research suggests that global psychiatric discourses did not enter the Rwandan public sphere until after the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsi, at which point local iterations of ...

On the matter of matter in second language education: A “mixed” review of current research

open access: yesThe Modern Language Journal, Volume 109, Issue 4, Page 704-731, Winter 2025.
Abstract With the increasing attention provided to sociomaterial and new materialist perspectives in second language (L2) education, this article pursues the question of what these approaches have co‐produced in the existing research. This “mixed” review combines elements of qualitative metasynthesis and diffractive literature review, drawing on ...

Discovering Cataclysmic Variables from the Rubin Observatory LSST

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal Supplement Series
The Vera C. Rubin Observatory’s Legacy Survey of Space and Time (LSST) will provide a windfall of new transients and variable sources. Here we have performed mock observation simulations to understand LSST’s expected detection rates for cataclysmic ...
