Proofs of two conjectures involving sums of normalized Narayana numbers

open access: yesDemonstratio Mathematica
Narayana numbers are well-known and have many applications in the field of combinatorics. The Narayana numbers form a triangular array, where the sum of the nth row is the nth Catalan number.

Seasonal patterns of phytoplankton photoacclimation in a dimictic oligotrophic lake over 5 yr: Implications for chlorophyll as an estimate of biomass

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, EarlyView.
Abstract Chlorophyll a is commonly used as a surrogate for algal biomass in lakes and oceans even though phytoplankton can readily adjust intracellular chlorophyll concentration to changes in the environment through a cellular process termed photoacclimation.

Radiation‐constrained boundaries cause nonuniform responses of the carbon uptake phenology to climatic warming in the Northern Hemisphere

open access: yesGlobal Change Biology, Volume 29, Issue 3, Page 719-730, February 2023., 2023
The constraint of temperature and radiation on vegetation productivity was estimated with the variable θ. Values of θ differ during the start and end of season (SoS and EoS), indicating that radiation constraints the trend towards longer growing seasons but differently during spring and autumn.

Light‐Activated Pharmacological Tools for Exploring the Cholinergic System

open access: yesMedicinal Research Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Cholinergic transmission plays a critical role in both the central and peripheral nervous systems, affecting processes such as learning, memory, and inflammation. Conventional cholinergic drugs generally suffer from poor selectivity and temporal precision, leading to undesired effects and limited therapeutic efficacy. Photopharmacology aims to

Molecular Tools to Study and Control Dopaminergic Neurotransmission With Light

open access: yesMedicinal Research Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Dopaminergic neurotransmission is involved in several important brain functions, such as motor control, learning, reward‐motivated behavior, and emotions. Dysfunctions of dopaminergic system may lead to the development of various neurological and psychiatric disorders, like Parkinson's disease, schizophrenia, depression, and addictions ...

A new approach to Catalan numbers using differential equations [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
In this paper, we introduce two differential equations arising from the generating function of the Catalan numbers which are `inverses' to each other in some sense. From these differential equations, we obtain some new and explicit identities for Catalan and higher-order Catalan numbers.

Beyond plant awareness disparity: Exploring intangible relationships with plants in the Catalan Pyrenees

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
The phenomenon of “Plant Awareness Disparity”—often defined as people's inability to notice, recognize, and appreciate plants and their significance—has been described as one of the greatest challenges that botanists face in our joint mission to address the social‐ecological crisis of our time.

Response of Amblyseius swirskii to deltamethrin

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
The analysis of toxicological and molecular data reveals target‐site as well as metabolic modifications associated with the resistance to deltamethrin in Amblyseius swirskii colonies. However, semi‐field assays show increased run‐off behavior after treatments with the same pesticide.
