Preparation and Characterization of NiMo/Al2O3Catalyst for Hydrocracking Processing

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2018
Hydrocracking is a chemical process used in petroleum refineries for converting high boiling hydrocarbons in petroleum crude oils to more valuable lower boiling products such as gasoline, kerosene, and diesel oil that operate at high temperature and ...

Acute caffeine treatment protects the developing retina from ischemia‐induced cell death

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Caffeine reduces cell death in the developing retina under ischemia (OGD). This effect does not involve BDNF upregulation or antioxidant pathways (NRF2/VEGF). Neuroprotection occurs mainly through adenosine A2A receptor antagonism, decreasing glutamate release and excitotoxicity, highlighting caffeine's potential as an acute neuroprotective agent in ...

Effect of support and acidity of catalyst on the direct oxidation of ethylene to acetic acid

open access: yes, 2001
The selective oxidation of ethylene to acetic acid was investigated on Pd-acid/support catalyst system. The catalytic activity is influenced strongly by the acidity of the catalyst. The stronger the catalyst acidity the higher the catalytic activity. The

Plasma versus thermal activation of the Phillips catalyst [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
Silica supported chromium oxide catalysts, known as Phillips catalysts, are used in the production of over 40% of the world's high-density polyethylene. The original catalyst comprised CrO(_3) impregnated onto silica.

Performance improvement in direct methanol fuel cell cathode using high mesoporous area catalyst support

open access: yes, 2005
Black Pearls 2000 (designated as BP- 2000) and Vulcan XC-72 (designated as XC-72) carbon blacks were chosen as supports to prepare 40 wt % (the targeted value) Pt/C catalysts by a modified polyol process.

Sudden anaerobization in Amphibacillus xylanus increases intracellular labile ferrous iron and inhibits cell growth

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Abruptly changing from aerobic to anaerobic conditions (sudden anaerobization) induced growth inhibition and a significant increase in intracellular labile ferrous iron in the aerotolerant anaerobe Amphibacillus xylanus. We found that free flavins mediate efficient electron transfer from NADH to ferric iron under anaerobic conditions, suggesting that ...

Catalyst-Free, Direct Electrochemical Tri- and Difluoroalkylation/Cyclization: Access to Functionalized Oxindoles and Quinolinones

open access: yes, 2019
The catalyst-free electrochemical di- and trifluoromethylation/cyclization of N-substituted acrylamides was realized under external oxidant-free conditions. The strategy provides expedient access to fluoroalkylated oxindoles and 3,4-dihydroquinolin-2(1H)

Hydrostatic pressure activates HIF‐1α via β‐catenin to promote stemness in breast cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
To mimic the elevated intestinal fluid pressure in breast cancers, we loaded human breast cancer cells (MCF‐7, MDA‐MB‐453, and BT‐474) to 50 mmHg hydrostatic pressure. Hydrostatic pressure exposure upregulated HIF‐1α and induced stemness in MCF‐7 and BT‐474 cells.
