Mechanochemistry: Fundamental Principles and Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this review, the physicochemical principles of mechanochemistry are first clarified. Based on this foundation, the research basis and cutting‐edge scientific achievements in four areas are introduced: solid‐state organic chemistry, polymers, interface science, and biomechanochemistry.

The Role of Quiet Eye Timing and Location in the Basketball Three-Point Shot: A New Research Paradigm

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2019
We investigated three areas of uncertainty about the role of vision in basketball shooting, the timing of fixations (early, late), the location of fixations (hoop centre, non-centre) and the effect of the defender on performance.

Explainable Deep Multilevel Attention Learning for Predicting Protein Carbonylation Sites

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Selective carbonylation sites (SCANS) are conceptualized, designed, evaluated, and released. SCANS captures segment‐level, protein‐level, and residue embeddings features. It utilizes elaborate loss function to penalize cross‐predictions at the residue level.

Assessing Relationships Between Angling Effort and Larval Trematodes in Small Bluegill [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
I wanted to determine if catch-and-release angling increased larval trematodes in small (50-160 mm) bluegill (Lepomis macrochirus). I used angling effort as a proxy for amount of catch-and-release angling.

Hosts and Commensal Bacteria Synergistically Antagonize Opportunistic Pathogens at the Single‐Cell Resolution

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In the tripartite‐species model, Drosophila larvae stimulate lactate production through excreting digestion enzymes. S. marcescens population senses a cue of lactate and tends to diverge into virulent and reduced virulence subclusters with remarkable heterogeneity to metabolize carbon metabolism and counter colonization resistance, giving a fitness ...

The Role of Restocking Bream for Improvement of the Natural Stock

open access: yes‬‭Majallah-i ̒Ilmī-i Shīlāt-i Īrān, 1999
Abramis brama orientalis is a valuable fish species in the Caspian Sea. Its stock after has been faced with pronounced depletion since 1941. The release of million of its fry have not been successful to restore its stock. A slim Iluctuation were observed

A role for pancreatic beta-cell secretory hyperresponsiveness in catch-up growth hyperinsulinemia: Relevance to thrifty catch-up fat phenotype and risks for type 2 diabetes

open access: yesNutrition & Metabolism, 2011
Current notions about mechanisms by which catch-up growth predisposes to later type 2 diabetes center upon those that link hyperinsulinemia with an accelerated rate of fat deposition (catch-up fat).

Glucose‐Responsive and Analgesic Gel for Diabetic Subcutaneous Abscess Treatment by Simultaneously Boosting Photodynamic Therapy and Relieving Hypoxia

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The work constructs a glucose‐triggered gel for diabetic abscess treatment. The results demonstrate that the gel catalyzes glucose into oxygen, alleviates the hypoxia, and ensures sufficient ROS generation to combat pathogenic bacteria. Simultaneously, borneol within the gel can enhance the antibacterial activity of ROS and alleviate pain in patients ...

Microbial Biosensor for Sensing and Treatment of Intestinal Inflammation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The engineered calprotectin biosensor detects gut inflammation, processes the signal through genetic regulation, and responds by expressing the reporter sfGFP and the therapeutic protein secIL10. This dual functionality enables the engineered biosensor not only to sense but also to mitigate gut inflammation, highlighting its potential for disease ...
