Trammel net by-catch composition in the Bay of Medulin

open access: yes56. hrvatski i 16. međunarodni simpozij agronoma : zbornik radova, 2021
The aim of this paper is to present data on trammel net catch in the Medulin Bay, and to show the ratio of economically important fish species to those that are not, and fall into the category of by-catch. Net deployment was done twice a month, in the period from May to September 2020.

Composition of The Catch of Mini Purse Seine in The Java Sea

open access: yesCoastal and Marine Journal, 2023
Pelagic fish are a type of fish that live in groups, with their habitat in shallow waters or sea level. Groups of small pelagic fish living in coastal waters and juveniles (kids) are known to be more abundant on the north coast of Java, which is a traditional mini purse seine fishing area.

The Future of Research in Cognitive Robotics: Foundation Models or Developmental Cognitive Models?

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Research in cognitive robotics founded on principles of developmental psychology and enactive cognitive science would yield what we seek in autonomous robots: the ability to perceive its environment, learn from experience, anticipate the outcome of events, act to pursue goals, and adapt to changing circumstances without resorting to training with ...

Assessing spider community structure in a beech forest: Effects of sampling method

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Entomology, 2000
The spider community of a beech forest on limestone was studied for one year using four sampling techniques: emergence traps, pitfall traps, soil samples, and arboreal eclectors. 87 spider species were recorded.

Muscle Control of an Extra Robotic Digit

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This study compares muscle‐ and movement‐based control for operating a supernumerary robotic thumb. While movement control performs better in the proposed tasks, muscle‐based (EMG) control promotes broader motor learning. The results highlight the promise and challenges of using biosignals for human augmentation, offering new insights into intuitive ...

Composición de especies, tasas de captura y estructura de tamaño de peces capturados en la pesquería espinelera artesanal de rayas en la zona sur-austral de Chile Species composition, catch rates, and size structures of fishes caught in the small-scale longline skate fishery off southern Chile

open access: yesLatin American Journal of Aquatic Research, 2008
En los últimos diez años los desembarques de rayas en la pesquería espinelera artesanal se han incrementado aceleradamente en la zona sur-austral de Chile y actualmente se desconocen características fundamentales para la descripción de la dinámica ...

Prior Expectations Bias Confidence Judgments Through Parietal Alpha‐Band Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Humans possess the metacognitive ability to estimate the likely accuracy of their own decisions through confidence judgments. Yet, whether prior information shapes confidence and the neural mechanisms mediating such influence, remain to be determined.

Corals and Reef‐Dwelling Fish Regulate Carbon Storage and Cycling Processes in Coral Reef Ecosystems

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Coral reefs are biodiversity hotspots, yet their role in carbon storage and cycling remains poorly understood. Using field surveys and modeling in the South China Sea, we reveal the overlooked potential of carbon storage in reef ecosystems and how reef fish, corals, and surface sediment jointly shape reef carbon reservoirs.

Spatiotemporal patterns of catch and discards of the Israeli Mediterranean trawl fishery in the early 1990s: ecological and conservation perspectives

open access: yesScientia Marina, 2011
The spatiotemporal patterns of discards and catch composition of Israeli trawlers were examined using a 4-year (1990-1994), 324 haul dataset. Haul depth was found to be the main grouping variable for hauls, although significant seasonal differences were ...
