Monoamine Oxidase and Catechol O-Methyl Transferase Inhibitors

Archives of Dermatology, 1961
Introduction In a previous paper we reported on the physiologic effect of a variety of norepinephrine derivatives (catecholamines) introduced into normal and diseased skin. 2 Small differences in the chemical structure of these closely related compounds resulted in vastly different physiologic reactions. This communication concerns an effort to study

Phenylethanolamine‐N‐methyl transferase and catechol‐O‐methyl transferase activity in rat uterus

Acta Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, 1993
Purpose. The activity of phenylethanolamine‐N‐melhyl‐transferase (PNMT) and catechol‐O‐methyl‐transferasc (COMT) was studied in uterine homogenates from adult female Wistar rats with normal cycles and that had been ovariectomized. adrenalectomized. and steroid‐treated.Results. Activities of the two enzymes changed significantly during the normal estrus

Catechol-O-methyl transferase activity in human mononuclear cells.

Research communications in chemical pathology and pharmacology, 1982
Catechol-O-methyl transferase (COMT) activity was investigated in human peripheral mononuclear cells and in human lymphoblastoid cells lines. In any case, we have detected enzymatic activity in the membrane fraction of the cells. Km was found to be 4-9 10(-6) M and the enzyme was inhibited by tropolone and the lack of magnesium.

Regional brain catechol-o-methyl transferase: Age related differences in the mouse

Experimental Aging Research, 1975
Activity levels of COMT were measured in the frontal cortex, hippocampus, hypothalamus and amygdala of two strains of male mice, C57BL/6J and DBA/2J, at various ages between 2 and 30 months. Determinations were made in mice housed under normal conditions and in mice exposed to a form of mild stress, an open-field apparatus, for 5 minutes. There were no
