The Influence of Catechols on the Magnetization of Iron Oxide Nanoparticles

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2023
In this study, MNPs were functionalized with pyrocatechol (CAT), pyrogallol (GAL), caffeic acid (CAF), and nitrodopamine (NDA) at pH 8 and pH 11. The functionalization of the MNPs was successful, except in the case of NDA at pH 11.

Catechol‐Amyloid Interactions

ChemBioChem, 2023
AbstractThis review introduces multifaceted mutual interactions between molecules containing a catechol moiety and aggregation‐prone proteins. The complex relationships between these two molecular species have previously been elucidated primarily in a unidirectional manner, as demonstrated in cases involving the development of catechol‐based inhibitors

The catechol estrogens

Journal of Steroid Biochemistry, 1981
Abstract Catechol estrogens (CEs) are a major group of active natural estrogen metabolites, formed by aromatic hydroxylation of primary estrogens at either the C-2 or C-4 position. These compounds may participate in the mechanism of estrogen action on the brain and pituitary gland.

Vibrational spectra of catechol, catechol-d2 and -d6 and the catecholate monoanion

Spectrochimica Acta Part A: Molecular Spectroscopy, 1991
Abstract The Raman and infrared spectra of normal and deuterated catechol in the solid and aqueous solution phases are reported, together with data for the catecholate monoanion at high pH. Assignments of fundamental modes are proposed.

Catecholates and mixed catecholate hydroxamates as artificial siderophores for mycobacteria

Biometals, 2004
Different mono-, bis- or triscatecholates and mixed mono- or biscatecholate hydroxamates were synthesized as potential siderophores for mycobacteria. SiderOphore activity was tested by growth promotion assays using wild type strains and iron transport mutants of mycobacteria as well as Gram-negative bacteria.

Catechol‐Functionalized Polyolefins

Angewandte Chemie International Edition, 2020
AbstractThe incorporation of comonomers during ethylene polymerization can efficiently modulate important material properties of the polyolefins. Utilizing bioresourced comonomers for the generation of high‐performance polyolefin materials is attractive from a sustainability point of view.

Inhibition of catechol-o-methyl transferase by catechols and polyphenols

Biochemical Pharmacology, 1973
Abstract The effects of the polyphenolic decarboxylase inhibitor, N1-(d,l-seryl)-N2-(2,3,4-Trihydroxybenzyl)-hydrazine (RO4-4602), were compared with the effects of dopa and pyrogallol as inhibitors of catechol-o-methyl transferase (COMT). The apparent Km, for [3H]norepinephrine as the substrate was 0.36 mM.

A stain with catechol

Acta Histochemica, 1977
Summary When catechol, the simplest o-dihydroxy aromatic compound, is oxidized in the presence of potassium alum, there results a solution which stains very similarly to an alum hematoxylin.
