Catalytic Aerobic Cross-Dehydrogenative Coupling of Phenols and Catechols

ACS Catalysis, 2019
We describe a selective, catalytic aerobic cross-dehydrogenative coupling (CDC) reaction of phenols and catechols that creates aryl ethers. To avoid challenges of selectivity, we employ copper (Cu) coordination to confine substrate redox to the inner ...

Catechol dioxygenases

Essays in Biochemistry, 1999
Catechol dioxygenases are key enzymes in the metabolism of aromatic rings by soil bacteria. Catechol dioxygenases have been found that participate in the metabolism of halogenated aromatic compounds and, in doing so, play a key role in bioremediation of halogenated pollutants.

A Dual-Readout Tyrosinase Activity Assay Facilitated by Chromo-fluorogenic Reaction between Catechols and Naphthoresorcin.

Analytical Chemistry, 2019
Analyte-responsive chromo-fluorogenic reactions under accessible conditions are important for designing small-molecule spectroscopic probes. We describe a series of newly-constructed motifs based on the chromo-fluorogenic reaction between catechol ...

Iodine‐Mediated Synthesis of Methylthio‐Substituted Catechols from Cyclohexanones

Advanced Synthesis and Catalysis, 2019
A novel and efficient I2-mediated direct synthesis of methylthio-substituted catechols from cyclohexanones was developed. Various cyclohexanones underwent oxygenation, methylthiolation, and dehydrogenative aromatization in one pot in moderate to good ...

Vibrational spectra of catechol, catechol-d2 and -d6 and the catecholate monoanion

Spectrochimica Acta Part A: Molecular Spectroscopy, 1991
Abstract The Raman and infrared spectra of normal and deuterated catechol in the solid and aqueous solution phases are reported, together with data for the catecholate monoanion at high pH. Assignments of fundamental modes are proposed.

Catechol Metabolites of Polychlorinated Biphenyls Inhibit the Catechol-O-methyltransferase-Mediated Metabolism of Catechol Estrogens

Toxicology and Applied Pharmacology, 2000
The catechol metabolites of estradiol, 2- and 4-hydroxyestradiol (2-OHE(2) and 4-OHE(2), respectively) are potent signaling molecules and are hypothesized to be central to estrogen-linked carcinogenesis. Methylation by catechol-O-methyltransferase (COMT) is the principal means of catechol estrogen (CE) deactivation in the liver and other tissues.

Catechol estrogen methylene ethers

Steroids, 1974
Abstract We have prepared 2-hydroxyestrone 2,3-methylene ether and 2-hydroxy-estradiol 2,3-methylene ether; these compounds were not found as urinary metabolites of radioactive estrone, estradiol or 2-methoxyestrone in humans.

Catechol Monoglyceryl Ether Carbamates

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 1963
Abstract A series of carbamates and N-methylcarbamates derived from 3-(o-hydroxyphen-oxy)-1,2-propanediol was prepared and screened for muscle relaxant activity. An ester interchange between the above diol and diethyl carbonate failed to give 4-(e-hydroxyphenoxymethyl)-1,3-dioxolone-2; 2-hydroxymethyl-1,4-benzodioxane was obtained instead.
