Performance of the PR connections under combined Axial-tension and moment loading
The inherent moment capacity of bolted top-seat angle connections with double web angles (TSDW), categorized as partially restrained (PR) connections according to AISC-LRFD specifications, can be considered in analyses of semi-rigid connections ...

Relative dimension of morphisms and dimension for algebraic stacks
Motivated by applications in moduli theory, we introduce a flexible and powerful language for expressing lower bounds on relative dimension of morphisms of schemes, and more generally of algebraic stacks.

Designing by Geometry. Rankine's Theorems of Transformation of Structures. [PDF]
William John Macquorn Rankine (1820-1872) was one of the main figures in establishing engineering science in the second half of the 19th. Century. His Manual of Applied Mechanics (1858) gathers most of his contributions to strength of materials and ...

Currently, the robustness of precast reinforced concrete frames is attracting wide attention. However, avoiding “strong beams and weak columns” during strengthening against progressive collapse is a key problem.

Following the gradual crushing and spalling of concrete at large deformations, tensile catenary action (TCA) usually develops in axially restrained reinforced concrete beam-column subassemblies and provides a crucial resistance mechanism to avoid ...

Experimental study on catenary action of RC beam-column subassemblages
Catenary action is considered as the last defense of a structure to mitigate progressive collapse, provided that the remaining structure after an initial damage can develop alternate load paths and a large deformation has occurred in the affected beams and slabs. As a result, catenary action requires high continuity and ductility of joints.

On the existence of maximal orders
We generalize the existence of maximal orders in a semi-simple algebra for general ground rings. We also improve several statements in Chapter 5 and 6 of Reiner's book concerning separable algebras by removing the separability condition, provided the ...

RESEARCH ON VIBRATION CONTROL METHOD OF TRAIN PANTOGRAPH
In this paper, the vibration control method of train pantograph is studied. A dynamic equation based on Newton’s second law is established for the two element pantograph model.
