Elastomeric Micro‐Balloons for Remote Control of Cerebral Blood Flow and Real‐Time In vivo Imaging of Rodent Brain Response to Hypoperfusion

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports the fabrication of MRI‐compatible elastomeric micro‐balloons via a multi‐step bubble casting process, where the monolithic elastomeric wall is selectively stiffened for reversible and controlled inflation and elasticity, depending on the target vessels for graded occlusion of cerebral arteries.

Pulmonary Embolism in High-Risk Patients: How to Select Standard Imaging and Management Strategy?

open access: yesInternational Journal of Integrated Health Sciences, 2021
Objective: To describe the use of computed tomography pulmonary angiography (CTPA) for diagnostic purposes and percutaneous catheter-directed thrombolysis (PCDT) as a treatment choice for high-risk pulmonary embolism (PE) patients.

Cross‐Scale Hierarchical Targeted Delivery System Based on Small‐Scale Magnetic Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This article reviews a cross‐scale hierarchical targeted delivery system that integrates magnetic continuum robots and magnetic microrobots. By combining rapid long‐range navigation with precise microscale targeting, the system overcomes key limitations of single‐scale approaches.

Magnetic Micro‐ and Nanorobots for Precision Thrombolysis: Design Strategies and Translational Challenges

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
Micro‐ and nanorobots for targeted thrombolysis. This perspective elaborates on the clinical indication of blood clot disorders and current limitations for treatment. As a novel, alternative solution, micro‐ and nanorobots can be used to treat and break down thrombi.

A simple randomized prospective study comparing catheter-directed thrombolysis versus systemic thrombolysis in patients with massive and submassive pulmonary embolism

open access: yesHeart India, 2021
Context: Catheter-directed thrombolysis (CDT) is a novel mode of thrombolysis where thrombolytic agents are directed through catheter to a specific area of interest; hence, low-dose thrombolytic agent will be required to produce satisfactory thrombolysis

A Steerable and Expandable Magnetic Aspiration Catheter for Enhanced Aspiration Thrombectomy

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This article presents a novel magnetic aspiration catheter (MAC) that can be both actively steered and undergo distal‐end expansion via externally applied magnetic fields. The MAC facilitates precise branch selection and enhances clot engagement by improving endovascular navigation and aspiration efficiency. Phantom experiments validate its feasibility

A Retrospective Comparison of Ultrasound-Assisted Catheter-Directed Thrombolysis and Catheter-Directed Thrombolysis Alone for Treatment of Proximal Deep Vein Thrombosis [PDF]

open access: yesCardioVascular and Interventional Radiology, 2016
Recent studies have suggested that catheter-directed thrombolysis (CDT) reduces development of post-thrombotic syndrome (PTS). Ultrasound-assisted CDT (USCDT) might enhance the efficiency of thrombolysis. We aimed to compare USCDT with CDT on efficacy, safety, development of PTS, and quality of life after long-term follow-up.We describe a retrospective

Animal models of chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
Current animal models of CTEPH. Created using BioRender.com. Abstract Chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) is a rare, yet life‐threatening disorder characterized by persistent pulmonary vascular obstruction and elevated pulmonary artery pressure, with progressive remodeling and subsequent right heart failure.
