3D/2D Registration of Mapping Catheter Images for Arrhythmia Interventional Assistance [PDF]
Radiofrequency (RF) catheter ablation has transformed treatment for tachyarrhythmias and has become first-line therapy for some tachycardias. The precise localization of the arrhythmogenic site and the positioning of the RF catheter over that site are problematic: they can impair the efficiency of the procedure and are time consuming (several hours ...

Metal–Organic Framework‐Based Antimicrobial Touch Surfaces to Prevent Cross‐Contamination
A MOF‐based antimicrobial door handle cover is developed. It completely inhibits the cross‐contamination of Gram‐positive bacterial species (Staphylococcus aureus, and Enterococcus faecalis), Gram‐negative bacterial species (Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Acinetobacter baumannii), and fungi (Candida albicans). Abstract Infection diseases

Model-based Catheter Segmentation in MRI-images [PDF]
Accurate and reliable segmentation of catheters in MR-guided interventions remains a challenge, and a step of critical importance in clinical workflows. In this work, under reasonable assumptions, mechanical model based heuristics guide the segmentation process allows correct catheter identification rates greater than 98% (error 2.88 mm), and reduction

Towards Automatic Manipulation of Intra-cardiac Echocardiography Catheter [PDF]
Intra-cardiac Echocardiography (ICE) is a powerful imaging modality for guiding electrophysiology and structural heart interventions. ICE provides real-time observation of anatomy, catheters, and emergent complications. However, this increased reliance on intraprocedural imaging creates a high cognitive demand on physicians who can often serve as ...

The development of hydrogel‐impregnated robust interlocking nano connector (HiRINC) aims to address stent migration by improving tissue adhesion and reducing mechanical mismatch in self‐expandable metallic stents (SEMSs). The network‐like porous layer of HiRINC enhances adhesion and energy dissipation, demonstrates through ex vivo and in vivo tests ...

Automatic classification of multiple catheters in neonatal radiographs with deep learning [PDF]
We develop and evaluate a deep learning algorithm to classify multiple catheters on neonatal chest and abdominal radiographs. A convolutional neural network (CNN) was trained using a dataset of 777 neonatal chest and abdominal radiographs, with a split of 81%-9%-10% for training-validation-testing, respectively.
