Cathodic protection and cathodic prevention

Construction and Building Materials, 1996
Abstract Developments in cathodic protection for aerial concrete structures are described. The principles on which the technique is based and the various protecting effects induced by the cathodic polarization of reinforcement are illustrated; the differences between the cathodic protection applied to control corrosion rate of chloride contaminated ...

Nanotechnology for Sulfur Cathodes

ACS Nano, 2021
The field of lithium-sulfur batteries has benefited enormously from the advances in nanotechnology. At each step of technological improvement, lithium-sulfur batteries have relied upon techniques and methodologies brought upon by nanotechnology. Nanoporous material, heterogeneous nanocomposite, and hierarchical electrode developments have all been well-

Hollow Cathode Discharge with Thermionic Cathodes

Journal of Applied Physics, 1971
The electrical and visual characteristics of a dc hollow cathode discharge with indirectly heated thermionic cathodes were obtained in argon at a few Torr. Two facing planar cathodes of variable separation form the hollow cathode geometry. A hollow cathode effect was observed in the ``ball-of-fire'' mode and in the ``low-voltage arc'' mode. The results

The Cathode-Ray Oscillograph

Scientific American, 1923
The cathode ray oscillograph, since its invention by Braun, has developed along three lines. The major types of tubes are the high voltage tubes with a fluorescent screen, the high voltage tubes with internal photographic equipment, and the low voltage tubes. This paper follows the structural development of commercial tubes.

Cathode Sputtering in Hollow Cathode Discharges

Journal of the Physical Society of Japan, 1962
In order to investigate the processes responsible for a negative resistance of the hollow cathode discharge, several discharge parameters are measured with a Langmuir probe. The vapor density distributions of the sputtered cathode metal are measured by the absorption method of the resonance radiation of the metal atom. Almost all the metal atoms in the

Cathodic protection and cathodic preventionin concrete: principles and applications

Journal of Applied Electrochemistry, 1998
The paper deals with the principles of cathodic protection for atmospherically exposed concrete structures, the various protecting effects induced by the cathodic polarization and tests and field experience results. The differences between the cathodic protection applied for controlling the corrosion rate of chloride contaminated co nstructions and ...

Collisionless instability of the cathode sheath in a hollow-cathode discharge

Physical Review Letters, 1993
High-intensity periodic variations of the potential fall across the cathode sheath are observed in a low-pressure magnetic-field-free hollow-cathode discharge. These potential variations cause modulation of the discharge current, reaching a depth of almost 100%.

Microtips cathode for ignition of cold cathode gauges

Vacuum, 1997
A novel device used for ignition of Penning gauges is described. It is based on electron emission by a field effect microtips cathode. The complete reliability of the device is demonstrated.

Nanostructured sulfur cathodes

Chemical Society Reviews, 2013
Rechargeable Li/S batteries have attracted significant attention lately due to their high specific energy and low cost. They are promising candidates for applications, including portable electronics, electric vehicles and grid-level energy storage. However, poor cycle life and low power capability are major technical obstacles.
