Cathode materials: A personal perspective

Journal of Power Sources, 2007
A thermodynamically stable rechargeable battery has a voltage limited by the window of the electrolyte. An aqueous electrolyte has a window of 1.2 eV, which prevents achieving the high energy density desired for many applications. A non-aqueous electrolyte with a window of 5 eV requires Li + rather than H + as the working ion.

Hydrothermal synthesis of cathode materials

Journal of Power Sources, 2007
Abstract A number of cathodes are being considered for the next generation of lithium ion batteries to replace the expensive LiCoO2 presently used. Besides the layered oxides, such as LiNiyMnyCo1−2yO2, a leading candidate is lithium iron phosphate with the olivine structure.

High Voltage Cathode Materials

2015
Owing to the progress in the field energy storage, new lithium insertion compounds are currently investigated as active cathode elements for high-voltage lithium-ion batteries to improve the technology of the electric transportation. After preliminary considerations dedicated to the principles governing LiBs and electron energies in the positive ...

Methods and Materials in Cathodic Protection

Anti-Corrosion Methods and Materials, 1955
CATHODIC protection is complementary to the physical protection of metals, since it is used in conditions where painting and similar methods are not practicable, or not wholly satisfactory; in the case of metals which are buried in damp ground or immersed in aqueous fluids.
