Worldwide Patterns of Ancestry, Divergence, and Admixture in Domesticated Cattle [PDF]
The domestication and development of cattle has considerably impacted human societies, but the histories of cattle breeds have been poorly understood especially for African, Asian, and American breeds. Using genotypes from 43,043 autosomal single nucleotide polymorphism markers scored in 1,543 animals, we evaluate the population structure of 134 ...

Inspired from biomedical and pharmaceutical research, crosslinked pectin‐based edible composite coatings are developed for the preservation of butter. The developed coatings exhibit crosslinker calcium chloride dependent preservation response on coated butter over the 60 days storage period. Abstract Given the vulnerability of butter to rancidity there

Towards Self-Supervision for Video Identification of Individual Holstein-Friesian Cattle: The Cows2021 Dataset [PDF]
In this paper we publish the largest identity-annotated Holstein-Friesian cattle dataset Cows2021 and a first self-supervision framework for video identification of individual animals. The dataset contains 10,402 RGB images with labels for localisation and identity as well as 301 videos from the same herd. The data shows top-down in-barn imagery, which

Genomic Insights into Post‐Domestication Expansion and Selection of Body Size in Ponies
The authors’ research delves into the history of ponies by assembling a pony genome and integrating horse genomes. This unveils genetic connections between Asian and European pony breeds. Cis‐regulatory elements of key genes impacting body size are also identified.
