From life cycle assessment to grass‐based agriculture: A review and application

open access: yesGrassland Research, EarlyView.
Research scope, primary processes and key considerations of life cycle assessment in grass‐based agriculture. Abstract Life cycle assessment (LCA) serves as an essential tool for the quantitative evaluation of production efficiency, environmental impacts, and sustainability across the entire life cycle of grass‐based agricultural systems.

Spatio‐temporal characteristics of the gastrointestinal resistome in a cow‐to‐calf model and its environmental dissemination in a dairy production system

open access: yesiMeta, EarlyView.
This study revealed spatio‐temporal characteristics of gastrointestinal resistome in a cow‐to‐calf model and the pattern of their spread to the environment and offspring in the dairy production system. The gastrointestinal tract of dairy cows is a natural reservoir of resistomes and distinguished by gut sites and regions.

Synthetic biology for medical biomaterials

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
Synthetic biology platform has been utilized to produce a variety of medical biomaterials (MBMs), such as polylactic acid (PLA), polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs), hyaluronic acid (HA), collagen (COL), poly(β‐malic acid) (PMLA), poly‐γ‐glutamic acid (γ‐PGA), alginate (ALG), chitosan (CS), bacterial cellulose (BC), and antimicrobial peptides (AMPs).

Más allá del GWAS: alternativas para localizar QTLs [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
Beyond GWAS: alternatives to localize QTLs in farm animals. Two methods that could be used for QTL mapping as alternatives to standard GWAS are presented. The first relies on the differential frequency of runs of homozygosity (ROH) in groups of animals (e.g.

A stochastic SIR model on a graph with epidemiological and population dynamics occurring over the same time scale [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
We define and study an open stochastic SIR (Susceptible -- Infected -- Removed) model on a graph in order to describe the spread of an epidemic on a cattle trade network with epidemiological and demographic dynamics occurring over the same time scale. Population transition intensities are assumed to be density-dependent with a constant component, the ...

Assessment of Constraints, Opportunities and Income Impacts Associated with Small‐Scale Irrigation in Zebit, Ethiopia

open access: yesIrrigation and Drainage, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Small‐scale irrigation represents a highly effective system designed to enhance production and productivity, mitigate risks associated with rainfall variability and increase the income of rural farm households. This study was conducted to analyse small‐scale irrigation impact on household income and assess the challenges and opportunities in ...
