Association Studies of Neurotransmitter Gene Polymorphisms in Alcoholic Caucasians
Annals of the New York Academy of Sciences, 2004Abstract:Ethanol enhances mesolimbic/cortical dopamine activity in reward and reinforcement circuits. We investigated the hypothesis that risk for alcoholism may be mediated by genes for neurotransmitters associated with the dopamine reward system as well as genes for enzymes involved in ethanol metabolism. DNA was extracted from brain tissue collected

Studies on an apolipoprotein C‐II variant occurring in Caucasians
ELECTROPHORESIS, 1992AbstractApolipoproteins C (apo C‐II, apo C‐III0, apo C‐III1 and apo C‐III2) from delipidated very low density lipoproteins (VLDL) of 522 normo‐ and hyperlipoproteinemic Caucasians were screened by analytical isoelectric focusing. The immobilized pH gradient used was pH 4.0–5.0 with 7 M urea, which raised the apparent pH range to 4.8–5.7.

Biochemical HLA typing: a population study in 112 Caucasians
Tissue Antigens, 1989In order to define frequencies and associations of biochemically defined HLA‐A and ‐B specificities and their variants and subtypes in a Caucasian population, biochemical HLA typing was performed in a panel of 112 Austrians. Already known rare variants of HLA‐A2, A3, A30, Aw33 and B39 and the more frequent subtypes of HLA‐B27, B35, B44 and, in addition,

Platelet alloantigen frequencies in Caucasians: a serological study
Transfusion Medicine, 1993Summary. Alloimmunization against platelet antigens is related to neonatal alloimmune thrombocytopenia and post‐transfusion purpura. Moreover, platelet‐specific alloantibodies, in addition to HLA‐specific antibodies, play a role in the state of refractoriness to platelet transfusions.
