The analytic edge - image reconstruction from edge data via the Cauchy Integral [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
A novel image reconstruction algorithm from edges (image gradients) follows from the Sokhostki-Plemelj Theorem of complex analysis, an elaboration of the standard Cauchy (Singular) Integral.

Nonparametric Independence Screening and Selection Approach for Volatility Models With Exogenous Covariates

open access: yesApplied Stochastic Models in Business and Industry, Volume 42, Issue 4, July/August 2026.
ABSTRACT This paper introduces a nonparametric and non‐penalised variable selection procedure, called Volatility Nonparametric Independence Screening and Selection (Vol‐NIS‐S), designed for ultra‐high‐dimensional nonlinear dynamic time series models relevant to business and industrial applications.

An Optimal Edge Data Caching Scheme Based on Improved Particle Swarm Optimization

open access: yesConcurrency and Computation: Practice and Experience, Volume 38, Issue 13, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Mobile Edge Computing (MEC) alleviates the performance bottlenecks of traditional cloud computing in latency‐sensitive scenarios by moving computational resources to network edge nodes. In recent years, numerous research efforts have focused on developing edge data caching (EDC) strategies that enable app vendors to enhance caching performance

Stability of a Fully Discrete Local Discontinuous Galerkin Method for the Generalized Benjamin–Ono Equation

open access: yesNumerical Methods for Partial Differential Equations, Volume 42, Issue 4, July 2026.
ABSTRACT The main purpose of this paper is to design a fully discrete local discontinuous Galerkin (LDG) scheme for the generalized Benjamin–Ono equation. First, we prove the L2$$ {L}^2 $$‐stability for the proposed semi‐discrete LDG scheme and obtained a suboptimal order of convergence for power nonlinear flux.

Problems with Missing Tricomi Condition and Analog of Frankl Condition for One Class of Mixed Type Equations

open access: yesMathematics
In this paper, for a mixed elliptic-hyperbolic type equation with various degeneration orders and singular coefficients, theorems of uniqueness and existence of the solution to the problem with a missing Tricomi condition on boundary characteristic and ...

Finite Element Approximation for a Reformulation of a 3D Fluid–2D Plate Interaction System

open access: yesNumerical Methods for Partial Differential Equations, Volume 42, Issue 4, July 2026.
ABSTRACT We study a finite element approximation of a coupled fluid‐structure interaction consisting of a three‐dimensional incompressible viscous fluid governed by the unsteady Stokes equations and a two‐dimensional elastic plate. To avoid the use of H2−$$ {H}^2- $$conforming or nonconforming ℙ2$$ {\mathbb{P}}_2 $$‐Morley plate elements, the fourth ...

Existence/Uniqueness and Validation of Parameter Imbedding Equations for Nonlinear Fredholm Integral Equations [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
A parameter imbedding method for nonlinear Fredholm integral equations produces a Cauchy system involving the solution of the integral equation and an associated resolvent kernel.

Maximum Induced Trees and Forests of Bounded Degree in Random Graphs

open access: yesRandom Structures &Algorithms, Volume 68, Issue 4, July 2026.
ABSTRACT The asymptotic behavior of the maximum sizes of induced trees and forests has been studied extensively in the last few decades, though the overall picture is far from being complete. In this paper, we close several significant gaps: (1) We prove 2‐point concentration of the maximum sizes of an induced forest and an induced tree with maximum ...

The Effect of the Earth's Rotation on Wave‐Induced Drift in Finite‐Depth Water: The Role of Unsteadiness

open access: yesJournal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, Volume 131, Issue 7, July 2026.
Abstract Wave‐induced transport in the coastal zone can play an important role in the distribution of nutrients, plankton, and pollutants including plastic litter. The effect of the water depth, unsteadiness of the wave field, and the rotation of the Earth on the wave‐induced drift is investigated in this paper. We derive a model for the time‐dependent
