Caustic spot light for rendering caustics [PDF]
It is difficult to render caustic patterns at interactive frame rates. This paper introduces new rendering techniques that relax current constraints, allowing scenes with moving, non-rigid scene objects, rigid caustic objects, and rotating directional light sources to be rendered in real-time with GPU hardware acceleration.

Caustics, cold flows, and annual modulation [PDF]
We discuss the formation of dark matter caustics, and their possible detection by future dark matter experiments. The annual modulation expected in the recoil rate measured by a dark matter detector is discussed.

Dark Matter under the Microscope: Constraining Compact Dark Matter with Caustic Crossing Events [PDF]
A galaxy cluster acts as a cosmic telescope over background galaxies but also as a cosmic microscope magnifying the imperfections of the lens. The diverging magnification of lensing caustics enhances the microlensing effect of substructure present within

Role of endoscopy in caustic injury of the esophagus
Caustic injury of the esophagus is a problematic condition challenging endoscopists worldwide. Although the caustic agents and motives are different among countries and age groups, endoscopy still plays an invaluable role in diagnosis and treatment ...

Application of the Fenton Process in the Petroleum Refinery Spent Caustic Wastewater Treatment
Spent caustic wastewater is produced from the scrubbing process using a caustic solution to absorb contaminants in the oil stream (hydrocarbon). Indonesia’s Petroleum Oil Refinery produces spent caustic wastewater from LPG and kerosene processing unit ...

Effects of Caustic Extraction on Properties of Viscose Grade Dissolving Pulp
Viscose, a cellulose-based commodity fibre, is produced by pulping and bleaching of wood, yielding a high quality “dissolving pulp” which is then spun. During pulping and bleaching, effective hemicellulose extraction is required to allow fibre production.

Optical catastrophes of the swallowtail and butterfly beams
We experimentally realize higher-order catastrophic structures in light fields presenting solutions of the paraxial diffraction catastrophe integral. They are determined by potential functions whose singular mapping manifests as caustic hypersurfaces in ...

Minimal model for tidal bore revisited
This develops a recent analysis of gentle undular tidal bores (2018 New J. Phys. 20 053066) and corrects an error. The simplest linear-wave superposition, of monochromatic waves propagating according to the shallow-water dispersion relation, leads to a ...

Solar Wakes of Dark Matter Flows [PDF]
We analyze the effect of the Sun's gravitational field on a flow of cold dark matter (CDM) through the solar system in the limit where the velocity dispersion of the flow vanishes.
