Ecology, Diversity and Conservation Priorities of Cave Dwelling Fauna in Mandaramnuwara Cave, Nuwara Eliya District

open access: yes, 2014
Cave biodiversity studies are scarce in Sri Lanka though caves support large number ofspecies. Formation of a cave takes thousands or millions of years.

The invertebrate cave fauna of Tasmania : ecology and conservation biology

open access: yes, 1992
The invertebrate cave fauna of Tasmania is reviewed, based on collections from more than 130 caves in 31 karst areas. These totals represent approximately 14% of the known caves and about one half of the cavernous karst areas in the State.

A Numerical–Experimental Approach for Multi‐Matrix Fiber‐Reinforced Plastics Characterization Using Finite Element Model Updating

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A numerical–experimental framework is developed for characterizing multi‐matrix fiber‐reinforced polymers (MM‐FRPs) combining epoxy and polyurethane matrices. Harmonic bending tests are integrated with finite element model updating (FEMU) to simultaneously identify elastic and viscoelastic material parameters.

The Diversity of Subterranean Terrestrial Arthropods in Resava Cave (Eastern Serbia)

open access: yesDiversity
The Balkan region is rich in limestone deposits, which have created one of the largest hotspots of subterranean biodiversity. This paper gives an overview of the diversity of subterranean terrestrial arthropods in Resava Cave in eastern Serbia. This cave

The role of microhabitats in structuring cave invertebrate communities in Guatemala

open access: yesInternational Journal of Speleology, 2020
Several studies have tried to elucidate the main environmental features driving invertebrate community structure in cave environments. They found that many factors influence the community structure, but rarely focused on how substrate types and ...

Al–Cu Composite Casting of Laser‐Deoxidized Copper: Bonding, Interfacial Chemistry, and Thermal Conductivity

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study investigates laser‐based oxide removal of Cu inserts in oxygen‐free conditions and examines long‐term oxidation kinetics and surface chemistry under different atmospheres via X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Al–Cu compound casting with differently oxidized surfaces is performed, and intermetallic phase formation, morphology, and thermal ...

Complete mitochondrial genome of a cave dwelling Desmopachria (Insecta: Coleoptera: Dytiscidae) from the Eastern Amazon

open access: yesMitochondrial DNA. Part B. Resources, 2021
Coleoptera presents most of the cave fauna biodiversity, with several troglobite species belonging to the aquatic family Dytiscidae. However, very little is known on both genetic and genomic diversity traits of Neotropical cave beetles.
