DOT1L Drives Endothelial‐to‐Mesenchymal Transition and Fibrotic Vascular Remodeling via H3K79 Methylation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
DOT1L as a central epigenetic regulator of EndoMT and pulmonary fibrosis. Acting as an early epigenetic switch, it translates TGFβ–SMAD signaling into H3K79me2‐mediated chromatin remodeling, selectively activates fibrosis‐related genes, and primes ECs for rapid mesenchymal transition.

An elastic segment of the whisker shaft enables coding of the whisking phase via whisker torsion in rats and mice

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
An elastic segment was found in the basal part of the whisker shaft in rats and mice. Application of force to the whisker bulb of isolated follicles caused bending and twisting of this segment. Active whisker movements deform this segment, causing whisker shaft deflection and selective activation of mechanoreceptors at different phases of whisking ...

Mutation prevalence of cerebral cavernous malformation genes in Spanish patients [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
[Objective] To study the molecular genetic and clinical features of cerebral cavernous malformations (CCM) in a cohort of Spanish patients.[Methods] We analyzed the CCM1, CCM2, and CCM3 genes by MLPA and direct sequencing of exons and intronic boundaries

Modern competency‐based teaching of human sexual development

open access: yesAnatomical Sciences Education, EarlyView.
Abstract Embryology is an integral part of anatomy and a key subject in basic medical education. The development of the sexual tract, which is closely associated with the formation of the urinary tract and the organs of continence, is particularly complex and relevant for many medical disciplines.

Anatomical Study and Classification of Foramina of the Squamous Part of the Temporal Bone

open access: yesClinical Anatomy, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The postglenoid foramen (PGF) is a rarely reported anatomical variant of the temporal bone, with limited data on its morphology, prevalence, and clinical relevance, particularly in non‐European populations. This study aimed to investigate the anatomy and frequency of foramina located on the squamous part of the temporal bone, including the PGF,

Combination of multiple cerebral cavernous malformations with a falx meningioma: A clinical case

open access: yesКубанский научный медицинский вестник
Introduction. Cerebral cavernous malformations may coexist with various disorders of the central nervous system, including brain tumors. There are few descriptions of combined cavernous malformations and meningiomas in the literature.

Dural Arteriovenous Malformations: A Review of the Literature and a Presentation of the JHN Series [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Dural arteriovenous malformations (DAVMs), also known as dural arteriovenous fistulas, are arteriovenous shunts from a dural arterial supply to a dural venous channel, typically supplied by pachymeningeal arteries and located near a major venous sinus.1 ...

A review on rockburst prediction and prevention to shape an ontology‐based framework for better decision‐making for underground excavations

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
A scientometric analysis of 2449 journal articles and a comprehensive review of 336 papers were conducted, discussing and identifying challenges and research gaps in rockburst prediction and prevention and proposing an ontology‐based framework for better decision‐making in underground excavations. Abstract With underground engineering projects becoming

Variable expression of cerebral cavernous malformations in carriers of a premature termination codon in exon 17 of the Krit1 gene [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Background Cerebral cavernous malformations (CCM) present as either sporadic or autosomal dominant conditions with incomplete penetrance of symptoms. Differences in genetic and environmental factors might be minimized among first-degree relatives.
