Cavitation bubbles dynamics and cavitation erosion in water jet

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2018
A water jet test rig is used to the cavitation test of the brass samples. The single crater and the pits-group, are found on the specimen surfaces after 15 h test. A water jet cavitation model with the sound interaction among bubbles, is developed by applying a water pressure of water jet flow fields into the Keller-Miksis equation, so as to obtain the

Cavitation induction by projectile impacting on a water jet [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Multiphase Flow, 2019
The present paper focuses on the simulation of the high-velocity impact of a projectile impacting on a water-jet, causing the onset, development and collapse of cavitation. The simulation of the fluid motion is carried out using an explicit, compressible, density-based solver developed by the authors using the OpenFOAM library.

Caries Café: A Method for Consolidating and Co‐Constructing Knowledge of Caries

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Dental Education, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Dental caries is multifaceted and requires dental undergraduates to receive training in underlying science, risk factors, disease prevention, and treatment. Caries content features at many different points in a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) programme, making it a large task to consolidate and assimilate in clinical practice ...

Surface mechanics design by cavitation peening

open access: yesThe Journal of Engineering, 2015
Although impacts at cavitation bubble collapses cause severe damage in hydraulic machineries, the cavitation impacts can be utilised for surface mechanics design such as introduction of compressive residual stress and/or improvement of fatigue strength ...

Analysis of the Formation Mechanism of Secondary Tip Leakage Vortex (S-TLV) in an Axial Flow Pump

open access: yesMachines, 2022
Studies on the tip leakage vortex (TLV) are extensive, while studies on the secondary tip leakage vortex (S-TLV) are rare. To advance the understanding of the formation mechanism of the S-TLV, turbulent cavitating flows were numerically investigated ...

Study and analysis of the cavitating and non-cavitating jets - Part one: Parameters controlling force, power and the jet behavior [PDF]

open access: yesThermal Science, 2020
This paper presents the dependency of the jet power and the cavitation intensity on the working conditions of the cavitating and non-cavitating jet flow. This dependency is indicated by the cavitation erosion process and flow structure. The effects of working conditions on the cavitation erosion were experimentally investigated.

Jet Flow Field Analysis of Convergent‐Divergent Nozzle for Hydraulic Perforation for Natural Gas Hydrates

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 14, Issue 6, Page 3042-3055, June 2026.
Combining the nozzle structure and wellbore size of the second natural gas hydrate trial production, the CFD is employed to analyze the internal and external flow fields of convergent–divergent cavitation nozzle. Analyzing the influence of various structural parameters of the nozzle on its jet performance, and the nozzle configuration with optimal jet ...

Numerical investigation into the cavitating jet inside water poppet valves with varied valve seat structures

open access: yesEngineering Applications of Computational Fluid Mechanics, 2021
Owing to the strong three-dimensionality and transient evolution, the flow dynamics of a cavitating jet inside a water poppet valve is poorly understood, leading to insufficient basis for exploring the governing mechanism of cavitation effects.

Thoracic Computed Tomographic Characteristics of Canine Blastomycosis

open access: yesVeterinary Radiology &Ultrasound, Volume 67, Issue 3, May 2026.
ABSTRACT While thoracic radiographic studies have described the broad thoracic findings of canine blastomycosis, thoracic computed tomographic (CT) findings have been minimally reported. This single‐center, retrospective, descriptive case series study aimed to characterize thoracic CT features of canine blastomycosis.

Study of unsteady cavitation on NACA66 hydrofoil using dynamic cubic nonlinear subgrid-scale model

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2015
In this article, we describe the use of a new dynamic cubic nonlinear model, a new nonlinear subgrid-scale model, for simulating the cavitating flow around an NACA66 series hydrofoil. For comparison, the dynamic Smagorinsky model is also used.
