AbstractGenerating hydrodynamic/ acoustic cavitation (Gogate et al.) for a useful purpose encompasses the following energy transformation steps: (1) Burning fuel in boiler. (2) Expanding the steam in a turbine generator. (3) Using electrical output from the generator to: (a) Pump water through a mechanical constriction (hydrodynamic cavitation), or (b)

Nonlinear bubble dynamics of cavitation
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2012A theoretical framework for studying cavitation dynamics is revived. It consists of a nonlinear sound wave equation in an acoustic cavitation environment together with the bubble motion equation. The nonlinear sound wave equation considers time delayed bubble-bubble interaction.

Bubble Dynamics and Cavitation
Annual Review of Fluid Mechanics, 1977The first analysis of a problem in cavitation and bubble dynamics was made by Rayleigh (1917), who solved the problem of the collapse of an empty cavity in a large mass of liquid. Rayleigh also considered in this same paper the problem of a gas-filled cavity under the assumption that the gas undergoes isothermal com pression.

On bubble cavitation and dissolution
International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer, 1983Equilibrium equations of a bubble-droplet system are derived. The stability of a bubble-droplet system is examined and it is shown that the system possesses not only a dissolution limit, known previously, but also a cavitation limit. The results support that of thermodynamic analysis which demonstrated that both limits exists for a system without a ...

Ultrasound, cavitation bubbles and their interaction with cells
Advanced Drug Delivery Reviews, 2008This article reviews the basic physics of ultrasound generation, acoustic field, and both inertial and non-inertial acoustic cavitation in the context of localized gene and drug delivery as well as non-linear oscillation of an encapsulated microbubble and its associated microstreaming and radiation force generated by ultrasound.

The basic problem in understanding bubble dynamics during the cavitation process is determining the pressure and velocity fields in the two-fluid medium along with the motion of the bubble wall under the influence of time-dependent (hydrodynamic, acoustic, or optical) pressure.

Dynamics of cavitation bubbles
Canadian Journal of Physics, 1976The dynamics of an adiabatic gas–filled bubble in a viscous liquid is studied when subjected to a tension wave produced by a shock wave reflected off the water surface. Below a critical bubble size the water does not cavitate. Numerical solutions show that cavitation causes severe prolongation and attenuation of the original tension wave.

Dynamics of a single cavitating and reacting bubble
Physical Review E, 2007Some of the studies on the dynamics of cavitating bubbles often consider simplified submodels assuming uniform fluid properties within the gas bubbles, ignoring chemical reactions, or suppressing fluid transport phenomena across the bubble interface. Another group of works, to which the present contribution belongs, includes the radial dependence of ...

Collapse of cavitation bubbles near air bubbles
Journal of Hydrodynamics, 2019The cavitation erosion is one of the common damage modes in water engineering. The study of the interaction among cavitation bubbles, air bubbles and the wall is of great significance for understanding the mechanism of the air entrainment to alleviate the cavitation and to enhance the cavitation erosion mitigation effect of aeration.
