Numerical study of effects of geometric parameters on the flow and cavitation characteristics inside conical nozzle of autonomous underwater vehicles

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2019
The geometric parameters (ratio of orifice’s length to diameter, conical angle, and inner-wall roughness) of conical nozzle are investigated via computational fluid dynamic method to reveal the effect on the flow and cavitation characteristics.

Translational Considerations for Injectable Biomaterials and Bioscaffolds to Repair and Regenerate Brain Tissue

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The repair and regeneration of brain tissue faces both biological and technical challenges. Injectable bioscaffolds offer new opportunities to stimulate tissue regrowth in the brain by recruiting neural stem cells. Here, the translational issues are reviewed that need to be address to advance this promising new therapeutic approach from the bench to ...

Research on cavitation phenomena in pilot stage of jet pipe servo-valve with a rectangular nozzle based on large-eddy simulations

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2019
The flow field in the pilot stage of a jet pipe servo-valve significantly affects the performance of the valve. Cavitation with pressure oscillations occur in the pilot stage and lead to the appearance of high-frequency noise and vibration.

Characteristics and Analysis of a Cavitation Jet Mixer [PDF]

open access: yesChemical and Petroleum Engineering, 2015
Operation of a mixer-ejector in the cavitation mode is investigated. An analytical expression for the dimensionless pressure-capacity curve of the cavitational mixer-ejector is derived. The limiting allowable characteristics permitting analysis of the unit are obtained for known physical properties of the components of the mixture and their volume ...

Relationships between hydraulic traits and habitat preference for six Acer species occurring in the French Alps [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Xylem hydraulic properties and vulnerability to cavitation were studied in six Acer species which occur, in the French Alps, along a soil moisture gradient from the moist valleys to the drier mountain stands.
