Laser‐Microscribed Glass Enables Surface‐Microfluidics‐Facilitated, Affordable, Rapid Cancer Diagnosis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A transparent, laser‐microscribed glass platform enables cancer diagnosis within 1 h—much faster than histology, which takes days, and free from the chemical or contrast risks of MRI or CT scans. The antibody‐functionalized rough glass surface captures viable cancer cells directly from suspension, allowing instant optical readout and offering a rapid ...

Magnetic Force Microscopy Signatures of Higher‐Order Skyrmions and Antiskyrmions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Magnetic force microscopy operated under vacuum conditions enables the qualitative identification of higher‐order skyrmions and antiskyrmions in Co/Ni multilayers at room temperature. Distinct stray‐field contrast signatures arise from vertical Bloch lines and complex domain‐wall configurations.

In vivo Detection of Hyperoxia-induced Pulmonary Endothelial Cell Death Using \u3csup\u3e99m\u3c/sup\u3eTc-Duramycin [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Introduction 99mTc-duramycin, DU, is a SPECT biomarker of tissue injury identifying cell death. The objective of this study is to investigate the potential of DU imaging to quantify capillary endothelial cell death in rat lung injury resulting from ...

Covalent Organic Frameworks for Photocatalytic CO2 Reduction: Metal Integration Principles, Strategies and Functions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) with metals have been recognized as versatile platforms for photocatalytic CO2 reduction (CO2PRR). Herein, an overview of metal integration strategies for COFs is systematically summarized. Regulatory mechanisms and structure–activity relationships between metal integration and COF‐based CO2PRR are emphasized.

Dopamine Spraying Protects Against Cadmium-Induced Oxidative Stress and Stimulates Photosynthesis in Soybean Plants

open access: yesPlants
Cadmium (Cd) is a non-essential element that induces reactive oxygen species (ROS) production and damages the photosynthetic apparatus. Dopamine (DOP) is a neurotransmitter that plays a role in metabolism as an antioxidant.

Dense Nanofibrillar Collagen–Silica Hybrids with High Strength and ECM‐Mimetic Tissue Integration

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Dense nanofibrillar collagen–silica hybrids are engineered by synchronizing collagen fibrillogenesis with silica condensation, producing printable scaffolds that unexpectedly approach native extracellular matrix organization and strength. These cell‐free constructs guide endogenous cell‐infiltration, enable localized matrix remodeling, and integrate ...

From Mechanics to Electronics: Influence of ALD Interlayers on the Multiaxial Electro‐Mechanical Behavior of Metal–Oxide Bilayers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ultrathin AlOxHy interlayers between aluminum films and polymer substrates significantly improve electro‐mechanical properties of flexible thin film systems. By precisely controlling interlayer thickness using atomic layer deposition, this study identifies an optimal interlayer thickness of 5–10 nm that enhances ductility and delays cracking.

Matrix remodeling-associated protein 5 as a novel biomarker for predicting disease activity and endoscopic response to infliximab in Crohn's disease

open access: yesJournal of Translational Autoimmunity
The primary objective of treating Crohn's disease (CD) is to achieve and sustain endoscopic remission. However, repeated endoscopic examination leads to decreased patient compliance and procedural risks. Non-invasive biomarkers for endoscopic activity of
