Myocardial Ischemia and Reperfusion Leads to Transient CD8 Immune Deficiency and Accelerated Immunosenescence in CMV-Seropositive Patients [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Rationale: There is mounting evidence of a higher incidence of coronary heart disease (CHD) in cytomegalovirus (CMV) seropositive individuals. Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate whether acute MI triggers an inflammatory T-cell ...

Loss of AMBRA1 activates MAPK and angiogenesis signaling pathways in melanoma cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Loss of AMBRA1 in melanoma cells activates multiple oncogenic pathways associated with tumor progression. Transcriptomic and protein network analyses revealed that AMBRA1 depletion enhances MAPK/ERK signaling, angiogenesis, TGF‐β/EMT signaling, and Wnt/axon guidance pathways.

The Timing of Stimulation and IL-2 Signaling Regulate Secondary CD8 T Cell Responses. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS Pathogens, 2015
Memory CD8 T cells provide protection to immune hosts by eliminating pathogen-infected cells during re-infection. While parameters influencing the generation of primary (1°) CD8 T cells are well established, the factors controlling the development of ...

CD8 T-cell induction against vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 by Salmonella for vaccination purposes against a murine melanoma. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The Salmonella type III secretion system (T3SS) efficiently translocates heterologous proteins into the cytosol of eukaryotic cells. This leads to an antigen-specific CD8 T-cell induction in mice orally immunized with recombinant Salmonella. Recently, we

From energy provision to protein synthesis: Tunnelling nanotubes as mediators of intercellular metabolic cooperation in cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The cytoskeleton‐mediated transport of mitochondria via tunnelling nanotubes restores respiration, increases ATP production, rescues cells from apoptosis, activates the AKT/mTOR signalling pathway, promotes cell migration and invasiveness, contributes to cancer progression and treatment resistance.

Assessment of Some Immunological Parameters Postvaccination with Different Types of COVID-19 Vaccines

open access: yesMedical Journal of Babylon
Background: Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a highly contagious viral infection that can spread rapidly worldwide. Several vaccines have been developed to combat COVID-19.

Intrahepatic CD8+ lymphocyte trapping during tolerance induction using mushroom derived formulations: A possible role for liver in tolerance induction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
AIM: To determine the immunomodulatory effect of Shiitake (a mushroom extract), we tested its effect on liver-mediated immune regulation in a model of immune-mediated colitis. METHODS: Four groups of mice were studied. Colitis was induced by intracolonic

Influenza Vaccination Responses in Disabled Stroke Patients: A Single‐Center Prospective Observational Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective This study aimed to investigate the immunological response to influenza vaccination, the incidence and severity of influenza infection, and the side effects of the vaccination in patients with ischemic stroke. Methods This prospective observational study was conducted between 2023 and 2024 at Ramathibodi Hospital.

Down regulation of T cell receptor expression in COPD pulmonary CD8 cells. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
CD8 cells may contribute towards an autoimmune process in COPD. Down regulation of T cell receptor (TCR) signalling molecules occurs in autoimmune diseases with consequent T cell dysfunction.

Constraints on the CD8 T cell response in chronic HBV infection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The inflamed liver in chronic hepatitis B virus infection (CHB) is characterised by a large influx of non-virus specific CD8 T cells, which we hypothesize could provide insights into mechanisms of failure of viral control and liver damage in this setting.
