The appropriateness of clinical decision support systems alerts in supporting clinical workflows: A systematic review

open access: yesHealth Informatics Journal, 2021
A CDSS generates a high number of inappropriate alerts that interrupt the clinical workflow. As a result, clinicians silence, disable, or ignore alerts, thereby undermining patient safety.

MODELLING THE BID AND ASK PRICES OF ILLIQUID CDSs [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Theoretical and Applied Finance, 2012
CDS (credit default swap) contracts that were initiated some time ago frequently have spreads and/or maturities that are not available on the current market of CDSs, and are thus illiquid. This article introduces an incomplete-market approach to valuing illiquid CDSs that, in contrast to the risk-neutral approach of current market practice, allows a ...

Characterization of the dynamic microbiome evolution across thrips species

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
Comprehensive survey of the microbiome in thrips. The dominant bacterial genera found in thrips include intracellular ones, such as Wolbachia and Spiroplasma, and extracellular ones, including Serratia, Pantoea, and Acinetobacter. We isolated and sequenced high‐quality genomes of two dominant symbionts, Pantoea dispersa and Serratia marcescens.

Identification, reliability, and validity of drug–drug interaction checkers in chronic diseases: A systematic review

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Abstract Drug–drug interactions (DDIs) pose major risks in chronic disease management where polypharmacy is common. Although digital DDI tools are used widely to aid healthcare professionals, tools rely on theoretical interactions. This limitation questions their reliability and validity for clinical relevancy.

An overview of clinical decision support systems: benefits, risks, and strategies for success

open access: yesnpj Digital Medicine, 2020
Computerized clinical decision support systems, or CDSS, represent a paradigm shift in healthcare today. CDSS are used to augment clinicians in their complex decision-making processes. Since their first use in the 1980s, CDSS have seen a rapid evolution.

AI‐enhanced decision support for fall patients: streamlining inpatient flow in the emergency department

open access: yesInternational Transactions in Operational Research, EarlyView.
Abstract Emergency department (ED) overcrowding and inefficient patient flow are significant operational challenges, often amplified by the volume of patients sustaining fall‐related injuries. This study predicts hospital admission for these encounters by leveraging unstructured clinical text: triage chief complaints (reasons for seeking care) and ...

Improving diagnostic accuracy using a clinical diagnostic support system for medical students during history-taking: a randomized clinical trial

open access: yesBMC Medical Education, 2023
Background A clinical diagnostic support system (CDSS) can support medical students and physicians in providing evidence-based care. In this study, we investigate diagnostic accuracy based on the history of present illness between groups of medical ...

Serotypic and Genomic Diversity of Vibrio anguillarum in Rainbow Trout Farms in Turkey: Implications for Vibriosis Control and Vaccine Candidate Selection

open access: yesJournal of Fish Diseases, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Outbreaks of vibriosis caused by Vibrio anguillarum are a persistent constraint on rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) aquaculture. However, information on the population structure of field strains in Turkey has been lacking. Here, we report the first systematic serotypic, proteomic, and genomic characterization of 23 V.
