Forest structure and connectivity drive the functional recovery of seed rain

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 114, Issue 2, February 2026.
Local forest structure and landscape‐scale connectivity shape distinct but complementary pathways of the functional recovery of seed rain in tropical forests. Structural complexity promotes functionally diverse plant–frugivore interactions locally, while connectivity facilitates the arrival of late‐successional seeds from external sources.

MORFOLOGÍA DE LOS FRUTIOLOS DE CECROPIA (CECROPIACEAE) DEL PACÍFICO COLOMBIANO Y SU VALOR TAXONÓMICO EN EL ESTUDIO DE DIETAS DE MURCIÉLAGOS

open access: yesCaldasia, 2010
La textura, junto con la forma y el color (no siempre de fácil interpretación por el ojohumano) de los frutiolos son caracteres importantes en la delimitación de las especiesde Cecropia del Pacífi co Colombiano estudiadas en esta investigación.

ABSCISSION OF ANTHERS IN CECROPIA LOEFL [PDF]

open access: yesActa Botanica Neerlandica, 1977
Abscission of anthers was found in most Cecropia species studied for a taxonomic treatment of this genus for the Amazon region of Brazil*. Cecropia is a common genus in the neotropics. It comprises about 80 species. Most of them are arborescent pioneer plants and common in more or less open (secondary) vegetation.

Cecropia Vitellogenin: Isolation and Characterization [PDF]

open access: yesAmerican Zoologist, 1974
The sex-limited blood protein, vitellogenin, of the silkmoth Hyalophora cecropia was isolated by chromatography on DEAE-cellulose employing a Tris-citrate buffer system, and chemical and physical measurements have been performed on the purified product. It was found to be a lipophosphoprotein with a molecular weight of 500,000.

Seed Dispersal as a Multiphase Process: Integrating Abiotic and Biotic Vectors Across Ecological Gradients

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 12, December 2025.
Raccoon specimen, seed disperser through endozoochory. ABSTRACT Seed dispersal is a dynamic process through which diaspores (seeds or seed‐bearing fruits) are detached from the mother plant, transported to different sites in the landscape that offer physical protection, competitive advantages, or lower predation risk.

Non‐Native Plants Alter Bird‐Plant Frugivory Network Structure in a Human‐Modified Tropical Landscape

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 12, December 2025.
DNA metabarcoding of faecal samples from 21 frugivorous bird species in Gamboa, Panama, was used to assess how non‐native plants influence frugivory network structure. Non‐native species, though comprising only 28% of plants, reduced nestedness, increased connectance and modularity, and caused disproportionately high secondary bird extinctions while ...

The Habitat Affects the Ecological Interactions between Azteca Forel (Hymenoptera: Formicidae) and Cecropia Loefl. (Urticaceae Juss.)

open access: yesSociobiology, 2018
In order to understand the effects of human impacts on structure and functioning of tropical forests, we should consider studies on animal-plant interactions such as antplant mutualistic interactions. We investigated the mutualistic interactions between ...
