경구용 반합성 cephalosporin계 항생제인 Cefaclor는 반감기가 0.6 hr 정도로 짧고, 경구투여 후 4-6시간 이후에는 유효혈종농도 이하로 떨어져 항균력을 지속하지 못하는 단점이 있다. 또한 Cefaclor는 소장상부에서 주로 담체수송되어 흡수과정에서 포화현상이 관찰되기 때문에 위에서의 체류시간을 연장시켜 투여첫수를 줄이고, 생체 이용률을 높이기 위한 제형연구가 필요하다.
