On‐treatment dynamics of circulating extracellular vesicles in the first‐line setting of patients with advanced non‐small cell lung cancer: the LEXOVE prospective study

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The LEXOVE prospective study evaluated plasma cell‐free extracellular vesicle (cfEV) dynamics using Bradford assay and dynamic light scattering in metastatic non‐small cell lung cancer patients undergoing first‐line treatments, correlating a ∆cfEV < 20% with improved median progression‐free survival in responders versus non‐responders.

Magnetophoretic separation of blood cells at the microscale [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2006
We present a method and model for the direct and continuous separation of red and white blood cells in plasma. The method is implemented at the microscale using a microfluidic system that consists of an array of integrated soft-magnetic elements embedded beneath a microfluidic channel.

Cellular liquid biopsy provides unique chances for disease monitoring, preclinical model generation and therapy adjustment in rare salivary gland cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We quantified and cultured circulating tumor cells (CTCs) of 62 patients with various cancer types and generated CTC‐derived tumoroid models from two salivary gland cancer patients. Cellular liquid biopsy‐derived information enabled molecular genetic assessment of systemic disease heterogeneity and functional testing for therapy selection in both ...

Oscillations in a maturation model of blood cell production [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2004
In this paper we use a continuous model to describe the development of a single cell lineage following the committal of stem cells. Three separate controls are implemented in the model, namely the proliferative control of stem cells, the proliferative control of developing blast cells, and the peripheral control of stem cell committal by circulating ...

Development of a microfluidic setup for the isolation and imaging of immune cells

open access: yesCurrent Directions in Biomedical Engineering
Specialised cells in the blood play an important role in controlling the immune responses. Thus, these cells are also valuable for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases such as autoimmune disorders and cancer.

Targeting rapid TKI‐induced AXL upregulation overcomes adaptive ERK reactivation and exerts antileukemic effects in FLT3/ITD acute myeloid leukemia

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Adaptive ERK reactivation hinders FLT3 tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) treatment in FLT3/ITD acute myeloid leukemia. Here, we report that FLT3 TKI treatment rapidly induces AXL expression and upregulation that is temporally associated with the adaptive ERK reactivation.

3D Volume Calculation For the Marching Cubes Algorithm in Cartesian Coordinates [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
From a scalar field defined at the corner of a cube, an isosurface can be extracted using the Marching Cube algorithm. The isosurface separates the cell into two or more partial cells. A similar situation arises when an material interface in the Front Tracking method cuts through the computational cells. A popular method to calculate the volumes of the

Microfabrication of Micropore Array for Cell Separation and Cell Assay

open access: yesMicromachines, 2018
Micropore arrays have attracted a substantial amount of attention due to their strong capability to separate specific cell types, such as rare tumor cells, from a heterogeneous sample and to perform cell assays on a single cell level.

Combined spatially resolved metabolomics and spatial transcriptomics reveal the mechanism of RACK1‐mediated fatty acid synthesis

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The authors analyzed the spatial distributions of gene and metabolite profiles in cervical cancer through spatial transcriptomic and spatially resolved metabolomic techniques. Pivotal genes and metabolites within these cases were then identified and validated.
