[Stem cell separation with different cell separators].
Beitrage zur Infusionstherapie = Contributions to infusion therapy, 1992For some years, there has been an increasing success in transplanting peripheral blood stem cells (PBSC) instead of autologous bone marrow in patients suffering from different malignancies. While collecting PBSC for autologous transplantation, we compared four different separation techniques and three different cell separators (COBE Spectra, Fresenius ...

Cell Separations by Flow Cytometry
2003Flow cytometry is a means of measuring the physical and chemical characteristics of particles in a fluid stream as they pass one by one past a sensing point. The modern flow cytometer consists of a light source, collection optics and detectors, and a computer to translate signals into data.

Electrokinetic Cell Separation
Separation Science, 1975Abstract Particles of the size of living cells are too big to be separated in stabilizing media such as gels. The separation thus has to be done while they are freely suspended in a buffer contained in a vessel of appropriate shape. The major two disturbing factors under these conditions are cell sedimentation and electroosmotic backflow along the ...

Sedimentation for the separation of cells
Methods, 1991Among the many approaches to the separation of cells, sedimentation either at unit gravity or with a centrifugal force has been widely used. Since the quality of the suspensions of cells prior to sedimentation greatly influences the separation, it is important to evaluate several methods for the dispersion of solid tissues to obtain suspensions of ...

Cell separation: Potentials and pitfalls
Preparative Biochemistry & Biotechnology, 2016Cell separation techniques play an indispensable part in numerous basic biological studies and even clinical settings. Although various cell isolation methods with diverse applications have been devised so far, not all of them have been able to gain widespread popularity among researchers and clinicians.

Review of Scientific Instruments, 1980
This apparatus separates populations of cells or other particles suspended in a liquid. The cells are examined individually in a narrow rectangular flow channel, and sorted out by a device using high-speed microvalves.

Separation of cell layers in hydra
Wilhelm Roux' Archiv fr Entwicklungsmechanik der Organismen, 1961The mesolamella of hydra is dissociable by means of divalent metal chelation with EDTA and is more susceptible to this treatment than the intercellular cements of each layer. Uncontaminated gastrodermal and epidermal cells may be obtained by this treatment.

Separation of mother and daughter cells
2002Publisher Summary The budding yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae ( S. cerevisiae ) divides asymmetrically. In vegetative growth, yeast cells reproduce by budding, and the position where the bud forms ultimately determines the plane of cell division. This chapter describes the detailed procedures for the separation and isolation of mothers and daughters.

Cell Separation and Identification
1989There have been many earlier reviews of the approach that one might take to the separation and identification of cells from a tissue not previously studied. The use of purified cells in suspension from tumors and from the tissues that are the ancestral precursors of tumors offers a different kind of environment in which to study the effects of ...

Blood transfusion centres use cell separators to harvest granulocytes, platelets or plasma from donors. These machines can also be used to replace a patient’s plasma containing harmful components with crystalloid or colloid solutions (plasma exchange, therapeutic plasmapheresis) or to remove an excess of cells (therapeutic cytopheresis).
