Tailoring Piezoelectric Nanogenerators and Microdevices for Cellular Excitation: Impact of Size and Morphology

open access: yesAdvanced Science
The use of piezoelectric devices as wireless electrical stimulators is an emerging research topic. In this study, piezoelectric microdevices, consisting of ZnO nanosheets (NSs) functioning as piezoelectric nanogenerators (NGs) grown on top of silicon ...

Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy for Pediatric, Adolescent, and Young Adult Patients With Osteosarcoma: Local Control Outcomes With Dosimetric Analysis

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background/Objectives Osteosarcoma is a radioresistant tumor that may benefit from stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) for locoregional control in metastatic/recurrent disease. We report institutional practice patterns, outcomes, toxicity, and failures in osteosarcoma patients treated with SBRT.

Improved Outcomes for Older Children, Adolescents, and Young Adults With Neuroblastoma in the Post‐Immunotherapy Era: An Updated Report From the International Neuroblastoma Risk Group

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background We describe clinical and biologic characteristics of neuroblastoma in older children, adolescents, and young adults (OCAYA); describe survival outcomes in the post‐immunotherapy era; and identify if there is an age cut‐off that best discriminates outcomes.

PEDOT:PSS-coated platinum electrodes for neural stimulation

open access: yesAPL Bioengineering, 2023
Safe and long-term electrical stimulation of neurons requires charge injection without damaging the electrode and tissue. A common strategy to diminish adverse effects includes the modification of electrodes with materials that increases the charge ...

Skinny Fat Cells Stimulate Wound Healing [PDF]

open access: yesCell Stem Cell, 2020
In this issue of Cell Stem Cell, Shook et al. (2020) reveal that dermal adipocytes regulate skin wound repair via release of fatty acids that promote macrophage recruitment and accelerated revascularization. Furthermore, mature dermal adipocytes dedifferentiate into migratory extracellularmatrix-producing myofibroblasts.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Actin cytoskeleton-dependent regulation of corticotropin-releasing factor receptor heteromers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Stress responses are highly nuanced and variable, but how this diversity is achieved by modulating receptor function is largely unknown. Corticotropin-releasing factor receptors (CRFRs), class B G protein–coupled receptors, are pivotal in mediating ...
