High Avidity dsDNA Autoantibodies in Brazilian Women with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus: Correlation with Active Disease and Renal Dysfunction

open access: yesJournal of Immunology Research, Volume 2015, Issue 1, 2015., 2015
We investigated in Brazilian women with SLE the prevalence and levels of high avidity (HA) dsDNA antibodies and tested their correlation with lupus activity and biomarkers of renal disease. We also compared these correlations to those observed with total dsDNA antibodies and antibodies against nucleosome (ANuA).

Quality, Stability, and Safety Data of Packed Red Cells and Plasma Processed by Gravity Separation Using a New Fully Integrated Hollow‐Fibre Filter Device

open access: yesAdvances in Hematology, Volume 2009, Issue 1, 2009., 2009
Background. We developed a completely closed system based on gravity separation without centrifugation steps for separation of whole blood. With this new system we compared quality and stability of the processed blood components (PRC and plasma) with respect to classical preparation.

Maternal Plasma Procalcitonin Concentrations in Pregnancy Complicated by Preterm Premature Rupture of Membranes

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, Volume 2007, Issue 1, 2007., 2007
Objectives. Our objective is to compare maternal plasma procalcitonin concentrations in preterm premature rupture of membranes (pPROM) and premature rupture of membranes (PROM) at term with their levels in uncomplicated pregnancy, and to determine whether these concentrations are useful in the diagnosis of pPROM cases suspected of infection and in the ...

First Comprehensive Study of Telomere Length Measured by Southern Blot Hybridization and Oxidative Stress Across 12 Captive Marine Mammal Species

open access: yesMarine Mammal Science, Volume 42, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Telomeres, repetitive nucleotide sequences at chromosome ends, shorten with oxidative damage and cell replication, and are increasingly used as biomarkers of stress and physiological state. Despite this potential, telomere length (TL) in marine mammals has been measured using Southern blot hybridization in only a few cases, often from ...

轻型地中海贫血和静止型基因携带者平均红细胞体积截断值及应用

open access: yesZhongguo shiyan zhenduanxue, 2007

Analysis of CD4+ and CD8+ T-lymphocytes : A comparison between EPICS XL and Celldyn Sapphire

open access: yes, 2006
Flowcytometric technology has been widely used for measurement of the absolute numbers of T-lymphocytes subsets in Human Immunodeficiency virus (HIV), defining the disease state, monitoring antiviral treatment, and identifying any risk for opportunistic infections. A manual preparing of the samples is required.
