Radiotherapy (RT) response depends on the DNA repair capacity of tumor and host cells. We show that circulating tumor cell (CTC) counts and apoptosis rates before and after RT predict treatment response and outcome, which can be accessed via easily accessible liquid biopsy approaches. Study of Recrystallization in Metals through Equiaxial Growth of Nuclei by Computational Simulation with Three-Dimensional Hybrid Cellular Automata [PDF]
Cellular Automata (CA) are powerful simulation tools that operate through discrete elements and associations. CA undirected neighborhood searches may produce specific grain shapes (e.g., octahedral, cuboctahedral, cubic), but not spherical ones. However,

Pair‐wise comparison of the CellSearch and FETCH enrichment technologies for circulating tumor cells (CTCs) from metastatic breast, prostate, and small cell lung cancer patients shows an increased capture of CTCs using FETCH enrichment. The clinical implementation of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) as a predictive tool for therapy efficacy in the ...

We identify USP29 as the only DUB mirroring CA9 expression, a marker of hypoxia and HIF pathway activation associated with PCA aggressiveness. USP29 stabilizes HIF‐1α and HIF‐2α via a noncanonical mechanism that is independent of PHD/pVHL activity yet relies on proteasomal regulation, establishing USP29 as a previously unrecognized regulator of hypoxic

Fluxonic cellular automata [PDF]
We propose a quantum cellular automata composed of nanostructured mesoscopic superconducting squares, where the logic states are defined by two trapped vortices in a 2×2 blind hole matrix. We present the functioning logic gate based on this fluxonic cellular automata, where the logic operations are verified through theoretical simulations within the ...

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Cellular automata and dynamical systems [PDF]
In this thesis we investigate the theoretical nature of the mathematical structures termed cellular automata. Chapter 1: Reviews the origin and history of cellular automata in order to place the current work into context.

In this study, we developed a deep learning method for mitotic figure counting in H&E‐stained whole‐slide images and evaluated its prognostic impact in 13 external validation cohorts from seven different cancer types. Patients with more mitotic figures per mm2 had significantly worse patient outcome in all the studied cancer types except colorectal ...
