dUTPases are involved in balancing the appropriate nucleotide pools. We showed that dUTPase is essential for normal development in zebrafish. The different zebrafish genomes contain several single‐nucleotide variations (SNPs) of the dut gene. One of the dUTPase variants displayed drastically lower protein stability and catalytic efficiency as compared ...

Shear connection requirements for composite cellular beams
Beams with regular circular web openings (cellular beams) are often used in composite construction. Rules for the minimum degree of shear connection in composite beams are presented in Eurocode 4 but were derived for solid web beams in propped construction. This paper investigates the degree of shear connection requirements for composite cellular beams,

Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Beam Entropy of 5G Cellular Millimetre-Wave Channels [PDF]
In this paper, we obtain and study typical beam entropy values for millimetre wave (mm-wave) channel models using the NYUSIM simulator for frequencies up to 100 GHz for fifth generation (5G) and beyond 5G cellular communication systems. The beam entropy is used to quantify sparse MIMO channel randomness in beamspace.

Time‐resolved X‐ray solution scattering captures how proteins change shape in real time under near‐native conditions. This article presents a practical workflow for light‐triggered TR‐XSS experiments, from data collection to structural refinement. Using a calcium‐transporting membrane protein as an example, the approach can be broadly applied to study ...

Evolution of constrained layer damping using a cellular automaton algorithm
Constrained layer damping (CLD) is a highly effective passive vibration control strategy if optimized adequately. Factors controlling CLD performance are well documented for the flexural modes of beams but not for more complicated mode shapes or ...

This protocol paper outlines methods to establish the success of a time‐resolved serial crystallographic experiment, by means of statistical analysis of timepoint data in reciprocal space and models in real space. We show how to amplify the signal from excited states to visualise structural changes in successful experiments.

Optimization of CO2 emissions of composite alveolar beams considering manufacturing constraints
The increasing concern over the scarcity of natural resources has driven the search for more sustainable structural designs. Among the various alternatives, steel-concrete composite cellular structures have emerged as a good solution for large spans ...
