The Cellular Burning Regime in Type Ia Supernova Explosions - I. Flame Propagation into Quiescent Fuel

open access: yes, 2003
We present a numerical investigation of the cellular burning regime in Type Ia supernova explosions. This regime holds at small scales (i.e. below the Gibson scale), which are unresolved in large-scale Type Ia supernova simulations.

Selective measurement of NAPE-PLD activity via a PLA1/2-resistant fluorogenic N-acyl-phosphatidylethanolamine analog

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2022
N-acyl-phosphatidylethanolamine (NAPE)-hydrolyzing phospholipase D (NAPE-PLD) is a zinc metallohydrolase enzyme that converts NAPEs to bioactive N-acyl-ethanolamides.

The effects of unburned-gas temperature on intrinsic instability of premixed flames at high Lewis numbers under the adiabatic and non-adiabatic conditions

open access: yesMechanical Engineering Journal, 2017
We treated numerically premixed flames at high Lewis numbers under the adiabatic and non-adiabatic conditions to elucidate the effects of unburned-gas temperature on intrinsic instability.

On the small-scale stability of thermonuclear flames in Type Ia supernovae [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We present a numerical model which allows us to investigate thermonuclear flames in Type Ia supernova explosions. The model is based on a finite-volume explicit hydrodynamics solver employing PPM.

Numerical investigation on unstable behaviors of cellular premixed flames at low Lewis numbers based on the diffusive-thermal model and compressible Navier-Stokes equations

open access: yesJournal of Thermal Science and Technology, 2018
Two dimensional unsteady calculations of reactive flows were performed in large domain to investigate the unstable behaviors of cellular premixed flames at low Lewis numbers based on the diffusive-thermal (D-T) model and compressible Navier-Stokes (N-S ...

Instabilities and soot formation in high pressure explosion flames [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Flame instabilities, cellular structures and soot formed in high pressure, rich, spherically expanding iso-octane-air flames have been studied experimentally using high speed Schlieren cinematography, OH fluorescence, and laser induced incandescence ...

Laser ignition of iso-octane air aerosols [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Iso-octane aerosols in air have been ignited with a focused Nd:YAG laser at pressures and temperatures of 100kPa and 270K and imaged using schlieren photography. The aerosol was generated using the Wilson cloud chamber technique.

Intermolecular Interactions as Driving Force of Increasing Multiphoton Absorption in a Perylene Diimide‐Based Coordination Polymer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study uncovers the unexplored role of intermolecular interactions in multiphoton absorption in coordination polymers. By analyzing [Zn2tpda(DMA)2(DMF)0.3], it shows how the electronic coupling of the chromophores and confinement in the MOF enhance two‐and three‐photon absorption.
