Cellulose nanocrystal-coated TEMPO-oxidized cellulose nanofiber films for high performance all-cellulose nanocomposites.

Journal of Hazardous Materials, 2020
High performance biopolymer films are of great interest as effective alternatives to non-biodegradable and petroleum-based polymer films. However, most natural biopolymer films possess weak mechanical and poor gas barrier properties, limiting their ...

The Oxidative Pretreatments of Cellulose for Cellulosic Superabsorbents

2023
Cellulosic superabsorbents (SAP) are produced by using cellulose and cellulose derivative blends with different bindingmethods, generally. But cellulose in SAP leads decrease in water absorption and water bonding ability because of nonreactive character ofcellulose based on its chemical structure. The oxidative pretreatments of cellulose were attempted

Preparation and properties of carboxymethyl chitosan/oxidized hydroxyethyl cellulose hydrogel.

International Journal of Biological Macromolecules, 2020
Hydrogel wound dressing is a type of hydrophilic polymer, which has been widely studied and applied in biomedical field. In this study, a simple and non-toxic method was developed to prepare a new type of composite hydrogel, which was formed through the ...

Oxidation Products of Cellulose. Salts of Oxidation Products of Cellulose

1995
The first spectra of a number of oxidized celluloses were obtained by Rowen, Hunt, and Plyler [164]. They used films of regenerated cellulose, oxidized by nitrogen dioxide or periodic acid. These authors erroneously attributed bands at 1640 and 1280 cm−1, in the spectrum of cellulose oxidized by nitrogen dioxide, to the carboxyl group.

Irradiation of Cellulosic Pulps: Understanding Its Impact on Cellulose Oxidation

Biomacromolecules, 2012
Different pulp samples were irradiated by three energy sources: plasma, electron beaming, and γ radiation. The effect of increased exposure to irradiation was studied by multidetector gel permeation chromatography with fluorescence labeling of carbonyl groups to quantify changes of the cellulose.

Cellulose Nanofibers Prepared by TEMPO-Mediated Oxidation of Native Cellulose

Biomacromolecules, 2007
Never-dried and once-dried hardwood celluloses were oxidized by a 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidine-1-oxyl radical (TEMPO)-mediated system, and highly crystalline and individualized cellulose nanofibers, dispersed in water, were prepared by mechanical treatment of the oxidized cellulose/water slurries.

Adsorption of cellulose derivatives on inorganic oxides

Colloids and Surfaces A: Physicochemical and Engineering Aspects, 1998
Adsorption of hydroxyethyl cellulose (HEC) and quaternary ammonium substituted HEC (QNHEC) on silica and titanium dioxide has been investigated as a function of pH and electrolyte (NaCl) concentration. Adsorbed amounts have been determined by means of reflectometry. Adsorption of HEC on SiO2 is constant up to pH=5. At higher pH the adsorption decreases,

Mechanism of the oxidation of cellulose with nitrogen oxides

Bulletin of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR Division of Chemical Science, 1959
1. Enhanced formation of nitric esters in the oxidation of cellulose with nitrogen oxides occurs when N2O3 is absent from the oxidizing mixture. 2. A maximum rate of oxidation of cellulose by N2O4 is attained at a definite content of NO in the mixture of oxides, and under the conditions applying in this investigation this NO content was ...
