Thermal ageing of cellulose paper insulation

1976 IEEE International Conference on Electrical Insulation, 1976
Results are presented of investigations into the thermal ageing behavior of cellulose paper insulation in which tests have been carried out between 100C and 160C on well-dried samples of cellulose paper contained in sealed glass vessels in an atmosphere of initially dry nitrogen gas.

Dielectric properties of cellulose paper — I

Electrical Engineering, 1934
Studies of the dielectric properties of pure cellulose paper as used for high voltage insulation are reported in this paper. The studies reported in Part I, presented herewith, include investigation of the dielectric loss, phase difference, and capacitance of paper insulated specimens as related to the moisture content of the paper.

Sustainable DNA Data Storage on Cellulose Paper

Small Methods, 2023
AbstractDNA is a promising material for high density and long‐term archival data storage. In addition to algorithms for encoding digital information into DNA sequences, the DNA writing (chemical synthesis) and reading (DNA sequencing), the preservation of DNA mixtures with high sequence diversity is another critical issue for sustainable, long‐term ...

Electroactive papers based on cellulose

SPIE Proceedings, 2004
Electro-Active Paper (EAPap) is attractive for EAP actuator due to its merits in terms of lightweight, dryness, large displacement output, low actuation voltage and low power consumption. EAPap actuator has been developed based on cellulose material. Several kinds of cellulose are used for EAPap actuators and the performance of EAPaps is investigated in

Paper Degradation from Cellulose Chains to Cellulose Fibres

2021
Degradation of paper initiates at the molecular level and propagates along several length scales, from the fibre and the network levels towards the macroscopic, sheet scale. In particular, the scission of cellulose molecular chains and the consequent reduction of Degree of Polymerisation (DP) is a key phenomenon influencing the decay of the mechanical ...

Sustainable valorization of paper mill sludge into cellulose nanofibrils and cellulose nanopaper

Journal of Hazardous Materials, 2020
As a kind of agro-industrial wastes, paper mill sludge (PMS) has posed serious environmental and economic challenges for disposal due to the more stringent regulations and diminishing land availability in recent years. The present study is aimed at providing a sustainable approach to efficiently convert PMS to cellulose nanofibrils (CNFs) and cellulose

The hygroexpansivity of cellulose papers

Annual Report 1960 Conference on Electrical Insulation, 1960
Cellulose papers expand and contract when the humidity of the atmosphere with which they are in equilibrium changes. This phenomenon — known as hygroexpansivity — plays a significant role in the manufacture of such electrical components as capacitors, cables and transformers due to the shrinkage and consequent mechanical instability which the units ...

Using carboxylated nanocrystalline cellulose as an additive in cellulosic paper and poly (vinyl alcohol) fiber paper

Carbohydrate Polymers, 2014
Specialty paper (e.g. cigarette paper and battery diaphragm paper) requires extremely high strength properties. The addition of strength agents plays an important role in increasing strength properties of paper. Nanocrystalline cellulose (NCC), or cellulose whiskers, has the potential to enhance the strength properties of paper via improving inter ...
