A macrolactonisation approach to the cembrane carbocycle of bielschowskysin

open access: yesTetrahedron Letters, 2013
By judicious choice of a conformationally constraining unit to predispose cyclisation to a 15-membered ring, we present a straightforward strategy to a cembranolide precursor of bielschowskysin by the Sonogashira coupling of two readily prepared fragments (from D-glucose and L-malic acid) followed by a facile beta-acylketene macrolactonisation reaction.

Sarcocrassocolides M–O, Bioactive Cembranoids from the Dongsha Atoll Soft Coral Sarcophyton crassocaule [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Three new cembranoids, sarcocrassocolides M–O (1–3), have been isolated from the soft coral Sarcophyton crassocaule. The structures of the metabolites were determined by extensive spectroscopic analysis.

Sarcophyolides B–E, New Cembranoids from the Soft Coral Sarcophyton elegans

open access: yesMarine Drugs, 2013
Four new cembrane-type diterpenoids, sarcophyolides B–E (1–4), along with 11 known analogues were isolated from the soft coral Sarcophyton elegans. The structures of new compounds 1–4 were established on the basis of spectroscopic analysis and chemical ...

Bioactive Cembranoids from the Dongsha Atoll Soft Coral Sarcophyton crassocaule [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Seven new cembranoids, sarcocrassocolides F–L (1–7), have been isolated from a soft coral Sarcophyton crassocaule. Their structures were determined by extensive spectroscopic analysis. Most new compounds exhibited significant cytotoxic activity against a

Environmentally Friendly Antifouling Metabolites from Red Sea Organisms

open access: yesJournal of Chemistry, Volume 2019, Issue 1, 2019., 2019
Seventy‐one marine organisms representing different classes of marine fauna and flora were collected from the Red Sea. They include sponges, hydrozoan, soft corals, sea cucumber, ascidian, cyanobacteria, and macroalgae. The methanolic extracts were evaluated for their toxicity and settlement inhibition effects by using cultured Balanus amphitrite ...

Ovatodiolide of Anisomeles indica Exerts the Anticancer Potential on Pancreatic Cancer Cell Lines through STAT3 and NF‐κB Regulation

open access: yesEvidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine, Volume 2016, Issue 1, 2016., 2016
Pancreatic cancer is the eighth leading cause of cancer death worldwide. Patients with pancreatic cancer are normally diagnosed at an advanced stage and present poor survival rate. Ovatodiolide (OV), a bioactive macrocyclic diterpenoid isolated from Anisomeles indica, showed cytotoxicity effects in pancreatic cancer cells by inhibiting cell ...

Novel phylogenetic analysis of the Mesozoic common gymnosperm Xenoxylon Gothan reveals close affinity with extant Podocarpaceae (Coniferales)

open access: yesJournal of Systematics and Evolution, Volume 63, Issue 2, Page 469-478, March 2025.
We perform a phylogenetic analysis of the Mesozoic common gymnosperm Xenoxylon to understand the systematic relationship with extant conifers. Data come from four nucleotide regions (trnL‐F, trnK‐matK, rbcL, psbA‐trnH), xylological characters, and biomolecular composition of five extant conifer families and extinct Xenoxylon. Using maximum parsimony in

New Diterpenes with Potential Antitumoral Activity Isolated from Plants in the Years 2017-2022 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Diterpenes represent a wider class of isoprenoids, with more than 18,000 isolated compounds, and are present in plants, fungi, bacteria, and animals in both terrestrial and marine environments. Here, we report on the fully characterised structures of 251
