Cembranoid diterpenes and a briarane diterpene from corals

Natural Product Research, 2006
Two new cembrane diterpenes (+)-polydactylide (1) and (+)-7alpha,8beta-dihydroxydeepoxysarcophine (2) together with (+)-sarcophine (3) and (+)-sarcophytoxide (4) have been isolated from the soft coral Sinularia polydactyla. The new cembrane diterpene (-)-7beta-hydroxy-8alpha-methoxydeepoxysarcophine (5) has been obtained from the soft coral Sarcophyton

Characterization of Cembranoid Interaction with the Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptor

The Journal of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, 1998
The class of diterpenoids with a 14-carbon cembrane ring, the cembranoids, includes both competitive and noncompetitive inhibitors of the nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (AChR). All 20 coelenterate-derived cembranoids studied in this report inhibited [piperidyl-3,4-3H]-phencyclidine ([3H]-PCP) binding to its high-affinity site on the electric organ ...

Cembranoids from the Octocoral Sarcophyton ehrenbergi

Journal of Natural Products, 2010
Chemical investigation of the octocoral Sarcophyton ehrenbergi led to the isolation of six new cembranoids, (+)-12-carboxy-11Z-sarcophytoxide (1), (+)-12-methoxycarbonyl-11Z-sarcophine (3), ehrenberoxides A-C (4-6), and lobophynin C (2), along with two known compounds, (+)-sarcophytoxide (7) and (+)-sarcophine (8).

Cyclized Cembranoids of Natural Occurrence

1992
The structure of eunicillin (89), a carbobicyclic diterpenoid isolated from the Mediterranean gorgonian Eunicella stricta, was reported in 1968 (1). At that time chlorine-containing diterpenoids had been discovered in the gorgonian Briareum asbestinum (2, 3), but it was not until 1977 that the structure of the first briaran, briarein A (211), was ...

Polycyclic diterpenoids biogenetically related to the cembranoids

Chemistry of Natural Compounds, 1987
This review describes cyclocembrane compounds isolated from plants, marine organisms, and insects. A systematization of cyclized diterpenoids according to the types of carbon skeletons is given.

A study on the sulfenylchlorination of cembrene and the related cembranoids

Chinese Journal of Chemistry, 1990
Abstractp‐Tolylsulfenyl chloride adds regioselectively at the C(11)  C(12) bond of cembrene 1 to give 11‐(R)‐p‐tolylthio‐1‐(S)‐cembra‐2E, 4Z, 7E, 12(20)‐tetraene 2 following a rapid HCl elimination. Two new cembranoids, 1‐(S)‐cembra‐2E, 4Z, 7E, 12(20)‐tetraene 3 and 1‐(S)‐cembra‐2E, 4Z, 7E, 11Z‐tetraen‐20‐ol 4 are prepared from 2.

[A new cembranoid diterpene from Olibanum].

Zhongguo Zhong yao za zhi = Zhongguo zhongyao zazhi = China journal of Chinese materia medica, 2022
Five compounds were isolated from the alcohol extract of Olibanum by MCI, silica gel, ODS, and Sephadex LH-20 column chromatographies and preparative high-performance liquid chromatography(HPLC). On the basis of spectral data and literature data, the compounds were identified as:(1S,3R,4S,7R,11S,12R)-1:12,4:7-diepoxisonane-8(19)-ene-3,11-diol(1 ...

Cembranoid diterpenes from soft coral Sinularia sp.

China Journal of Chinese Matera Medica, 2010
A soft coral Sinularia sp., collected from the South China Sea, was selected to investigate the bioactive and chemical constituents. The EtOAc fraction were isolated by repeatedly silica gel and Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography to obtain lobophytolide A (1), 3-dehydroxylpresinularolide B (2), sarcophine (3), 3 beta-acetoxyisolobophytolide (4 ...
