Stress development at the cement paste-steel interface for thin cement paste coatings

open access: yesCement and Concrete Research, 1989
Abstract A novel technique for determining the development of stress at the steel-cement interface for thin cement paste coatings is briefly described. A series of interfacial stress-hydration time curves are presented for three matrix systems: cement + silica fume, cement + calcium carbonate, and tricalcium aluminate + gypsum.

Growth dynamics, skeletochronology, and histovariability of the theropod dinosaur Berthasaura leopoldinae

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Osteohistological sampling on different bones of theropod dinosaur documents discrepant age record, growth, and metabolism. This could result unprecise paleobiological inferences if samplings are based on single bones. However, multi‐bone sampling can attenuate these discrepancies, helping to infer growth dynamics and physiology of these extinct ...

Differences in predominant collagen fiber orientation between dorsal and plantar trabecular bone tracts of adult mule deer calcanei suggest strain‐mode‐specific adaptation

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Polarized microscopic images of the outer bone cortex (a and b) and deeper trabecular bone (c and d) of the deer calcaneus in thin cross‐sections. The brighter gray levels reflect more oblique‐to‐transverse collagen fibers in the compression/dorsal bone (a, c) and the darker gray levels reflect more longitudinal collagen in the tension/plantar bone (b,

Effect of Different Particulate Materials and Graphene Oxide on Properties of Cement Paste

open access: yesTaiyuan Ligong Daxue xuebao
Purposes For improving the mechanical properties of GO incorporated cement paste, two types of nano-silica (crystalline and amorphous) and coal-bearing metakaolin (CMK) were used seprately to improve GO dispersion in cement paste.

Metasurface Enhanced Photothermal Cement Foam for Robust and High‐Throughput Seawater Desalination

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
Schematic of 3D metasurface‐enhanced cement foam for robust and high‐throughput seawater desalination. This study presents a cement‐based solar evaporator (CSE) fabricated in one step via viscoelastic lithography with simple negative pressure. In addition to boosting solar‐to‐vapor conversion efficiency via excellent light‐harvesting capacity, the ...

Effect of confining pressure on fracture characteristics and mineralogical behavior of tight sandstone specimens after hydraulic fracturing

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
Hydraulic fracturing in tight sandstone and fracture propagation characteristics using backscattered electron‐scanning electron microscope (BSE‐SEM) images. Abstract This study focuses on hydraulic fracturing experiments conducted under triaxial conditions on tight sandstone specimens from Shivpuri district, Madhya Pradesh, India.

Self-Shrinkage Behaviors of Waste Paper Fiber Reinforced Cement Paste considering Its Self-Curing Effect at Early-Ages

open access: yesInternational Journal of Polymer Science, 2016
The aim of this paper was to study how the early-age self-shrinkage behavior of cement paste is affected by the addition of the waste paper fibers under sealed conditions.

The microstructure development during bleeding of cement paste: An NMR study

open access: yesCement and Concrete Research, 2019
NMR was applied to investigate the microstructure development of cement paste during bleeding. In this study, we have measured the void ratio and the T1 relaxation, reflecting the pore structure development, at two fixed positions during the bleeding ...

Temperature‐dependent shear behavior and constitutive model of the rock–concrete interface

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
Shear tests were conducted to investigate the temperature‐dependent shear behavior of the rock–concrete interface, highlighting the interaction between the surrounding rock and the lining during tunnel fires. Under experimental conditions, concrete exhibited greater temperature sensitivity than rock, with the shear fracture surface transitioning from ...

Supra and subgingival application of antiseptics or antibiotics during periodontal therapy

open access: yesPeriodontology 2000, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract Periodontal diseases (gingivitis and periodontitis) are characterized by inflammatory processes which arise as a result of disruption of the balance in the oral ecosystem. According to the current S3 level clinical practice guidelines, therapy of patients with periodontitis involves a stepwise approach that includes the control of the patient ...
