Cemented Carbides and Cermets

1998
AbstractCemented carbides belong to a class of hard, wear-resistant, refractory materials in which the hard carbide particles are bound together, or cemented, by a ductile metal binder. Cermet refers to a composite of a ceramic material with a metallic binder.

A Study on the Carbide Grain in the Cemented Titanium Carbides

Journal of the Ceramic Association, Japan, 1962
The shape and the size of carbide grains in nickel bonded titanium carbides were studied by metallographical methods to confirm the influences of sintering atmosphere, temperature, and of the amount of metal binder on the nature of carbide grains. The carbide and nickel powders were mixed and ball-milled with methyl alcohol for 25 hours.
