Electric‐Fish‐Inspired Thin Hydrogel Electrocytes Achieve High Power Density and Environmental Robustness

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents thin, environmentally stable hydrogel power sources inspired by electric fish. Made using layer‐by‐layer spin‐coating with glycerol‐enhanced solutions, they offer precise layer control, long‐term hydration, and anti‐freezing stability.

Stability and Hopf Bifurcation of Delayed Predator-Prey System Incorporating Harvesting

open access: yesAbstract and Applied Analysis, 2014
A kind of delayed predator-prey system with harvesting is considered in this paper. The influence of harvesting and delay is investigated. Our results show that Hopf bifurcations occur as the delay τ passes through critical values.

A Smooth Center Manifold Theorem which Applies to Some Ill-Posed Partial Differential Equations with Unbounded Nonlinearities

open access: yesJournal of Dynamics and Differential Equations, 2009
We prove the existence of a smooth center manifold for several partial differential equations, including ill posed equations with unbounded nonlinearities. We also prove smooth dependence on parameters with respect to some perturbations, including unbounded ones. More concretely, we prove an abstract theorem and present applications to several concrete

Critical Limitations in Cryogenic Laser Cooling of Solids: Symmetry‐Related Fluorescence Trapping and Condensation‐Induced Parasitic Heating

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study uncovers two overlooked bottlenecks in cryogenic laser cooling of solids: symmetry‐driven fluorescence trapping and water vapor condensation. We demonstrate that breaking sample symmetry enhances fluorescence escape, while condensation dominates parasitic heating below 135 K.

Existence and uniqueness of travelling wavefronts for a bio-reactor equations with distributed delays

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Differential Equations, 2007
We consider the diffusive single species growth in a plug flow reactor model with distributed delay. For small delay, existence and uniqueness of such wavefronts are proved when the convolution kernel assumes the strong generic delay kernel.

Quantitative Stain Mapping in X‐Ray Virtual Histology

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Virtual histology promises 3D tissue examination without physical sectioning, yet has lacked the tissue‐specificity of conventional pathology. This work demonstrates the first quantitative three‐dimensional stain mapping at histologically relevant resolution, separating contrast agent from tissue to reveal cellular features such as nuclei. The approach

Prediction of Structural Stability of Layered Oxide Cathode Materials: Combination of Machine Learning and Ab Initio Thermodynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
In this work, we developed a phase‐stability predictor by combining machine learning and ab initio thermodynamics approaches, and identified the key factors determining the favorable phase for a given composition. Specifically, a lower TM ionic potential, higher Na content, and higher mixing entropy favor the O3 phase.

Nonlinear Dynamics of a PI Hydroturbine Governing System with Double Delays

open access: yesJournal of Control Science and Engineering, 2017
A PI hydroturbine governing system with saturation and double delays is generated in small perturbation. The nonlinear dynamic behavior of the system is investigated.

Pricing Dynamics in the US Hemp Market: A Vertical Price Transmission Analysis of the Hemp Value Chain

open access: yesAgribusiness, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The US hemp market is a new and nascent industry that has been devoid of research for about half a century. This study examined the effects of exogenous shock on price at each phase of the value chain—Farm (hemp biomass), and its impact on prices at other phases of the value chain—Intermediary Processor (crude cannabidiol hemp) and Final ...
