DeepCenterline: A Multi-task Fully Convolutional Network for Centerline Extraction [PDF]

open access: green, 2019
A novel centerline extraction framework is reported which combines an end-to-end trainable multi-task fully convolutional network (FCN) with a minimal path extractor. The FCN simultaneously computes centerline distance maps and detects branch endpoints. The method generates single-pixel-wide centerlines with no spurious branches.

Laser speckle stripes supersaturated problems in coal flow measurement research

open access: yesMeitan kexue jishu, 2023
In order to solve the problem of extraction accuracy of brightness supersaturated laser stripe centerline in three-dimensional scanning of coal flow, a centerline extraction algorithm is proposed. According to the principle of oblique laser triangulation

Flux driven automatic centerline extraction [PDF]

open access: yesMedical Image Analysis, 2005
We present a fast, robust and automatic method for computing centerline paths through tubular structures for application to virtual endoscopy. The key idea is to utilize a skeletonization algorithm which exploits properties of the average outward flux of the gradient vector field of a Euclidean distance function from the boundary of the structure.

Road Extraction in SAR Images Using Ordinal Regression and Road-Topology Loss

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2021
The road extraction task is mainly composed of two subtasks, namely, road detection and road centerline extraction. As the road detection task and road centerline extraction task are strongly correlated, in this paper, we introduce a multitask learning ...

Parallel centerline extraction on the GPU [PDF]

open access: yesComputers & Graphics, 2014
Centerline extraction is important in a variety of visualization applications including shape analysis, geometry processing, and virtual endoscopy. Centerlines allow accurate measurements of length along winding tubular structures, assist automatic virtual navigation, and provide a path-planning system to control the movement and orientation of a ...

3D Interactive Centerline Extraction

open access: yesThe MIDAS Journal, 2008
This document describes a user-steered method to interactively track centerlines of tubular objects in 3D space. The method is developed as a plug-in of ImageJ using Java language. To evaluate the tracking ability and tracking accuracy, this method has been applied to coronary artery tracking in coronary CT angiography data.

3D Geometric Analysis of Tubular Objects based on Surface Normal Accumulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
This paper proposes a simple and efficient method for the reconstruction and extraction of geometric parameters from 3D tubular objects. Our method constructs an image that accumulates surface normal information, then peaks within this image are located ...
