Clinico-Epidemiological Profile of Central Line-Associated Blood Stream Infections and Associated Morbidities among Patients in a Tertiary Care Hospital, Bangalore

open access: yesNational Journal of Community Medicine, 2017
Background: Central line-associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI) is often a complication of the presence of indwelling medical devices. These Central line catheters provide long-term venous access for treatment, delivery of medications and blood ...

Loss of SHP1 in Spinal Astrocytes Triggers T‐Lymphocyte Infiltration and Nociceptive Hypersensitivity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Astrocyte‐specific SHP1 deletion disrupts astrocyte–vascular interactions and compromises BBB integrity while enhancing STAT1‐dependent CXCL10 expression. These changes synergistically promote peripheral CD4+ and CD8+ T‐cell infiltration into the SDH. The infiltrating T cells secrete IFN‐γ, which in turn activates microglia.

Targeting β2‐Adrenergic Receptor Stability With Lycorine Reveals a Host‐Directed Pathway for Antiviral Defense Against Poxviruses

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Chronic stress drives autophagy‐mediated β2‐AR degradation, impairing antiviral immunity and promoting poxvirus lethality. Lycorine directly stabilizes β2‐AR to restore host defense, suppress excessive inflammation and improve survival. ABSTRACT Psychological stress is a pervasive yet poorly understood modulator of infectious disease outcomes. Here, we

A prospective Study on Incidence, Etiology, and Antimicrobial Susceptibility Pattern of Central Line-associated Bloodstream Infection Causing Isolates in a Tertiary Care Institute in North-western India

open access: yesMedical Journal of Dr. D.Y. Patil Vidyapeeth
Background: One of the most prevalent types of healthcare-associated infections is central line-associated bloodstream infection (CLABSI), which occurs when pathogens enter the bloodstream through a central venous catheter.

Artificial Intelligence‐Empowered Single‐Cell Phenotyping for Rapid, Automated Pathogen Diagnostics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work presents an integrated diagnostic platform that combines microfluidic single‐cell bacterial detection with artificial intelligence‐driven analysis for rapid antimicrobial susceptibility testing. Single‐cell phenotyping enables assessment of antibiotic response in only a few cell replication cycles, while AI analysis supports precise bacterial

A Model to Predict Central-Line–Associated Bloodstream Infection Among Patients With Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters: The MPC Score

open access: yes, 2017
BACKGROUNDPeripherally inserted central catheters (PICCs) are associated with central-line–associated bloodstream infections (CLABSIs). However, no tools to predict risk of PICC-CLABSI have been developed.OBJECTIVETo operationalize or prioritize CLABSI ...

Structural Basis of Shiga Toxin Neutralization by Human Antibodies Targeting Canonical Receptor‐Binding and Non‐Canonical Assembly Sites

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cryo‐electron microscopy structures reveal two distinct neutralization mechanisms of fully human monoclonal antibodies targeting the Shiga toxin 1a B subunit. RDS059 occludes the Gb3 receptor‐binding site, whereas RDS045 engages a lateral quaternary epitope to disrupt holotoxin assembly.

Epidemiology and Clinical Insights of Catheter-Related Candidemia in Non-ICU Patients with Vascular Access Devices

open access: yesMicroorganisms
Introduction: Vascular access devices (VADs), namely peripheral VADs (PVADs) and central venous VADs (CVADs), are crucial in both intensive care unit (ICU) and non-ICU settings.
