Deep Vein Thrombosis in Critically Ill Patients with COVID‐19 Pneumonia

open access: yesJournal of Ultrasound in Medicine, EarlyView.
Objectives The risk of major venous thromboembolism (VTE) among patients with COVID‐19 is high but varies with disease severity. Estimate the incidence of lower extremity deep venous thrombosis (DVT) in critically ill hospitalized patients with COVID‐19, validate the Wells score for DVT diagnosis, and determine patients' prognosis.

An approach to modeling abundance of marine wildlife over space and time using unstructured aerial surveys

open access: yesThe Journal of Wildlife Management, EarlyView.
We present an approach for estimating wildlife abundance from unstructured aerial surveys. We combine a spatial model for count data with auxiliary information on detection probability. This framework is intended to be flexible, requiring lower survey costs and less computation time than other alternatives for estimating abundance.

Generalised joint hypermobility and excess knee hyperextension are associated with an increased risk for second ACL injury, but not primary ACL injury, in female football players: A 5‐year follow‐up

open access: yesKnee Surgery, Sports Traumatology, Arthroscopy, EarlyView.
Abstract Purpose This study aimed to investigate the association between generalised joint hypermobility, knee hyperextension, knee laxity, and static standing alignment with the risk of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury in a cohort of female football players with an ACL‐reconstructed (ACLR) knee and in knee‐healthy controls.

Asymptotic Expansions of Central Binomial Coefficients and Catalan Numbers

open access: yesJournal of integer sequences, 2013
We give a systematic view of the asymptotic expansion of two well-known sequences, the central binomial coefficients and the Catalan numbers. The main point is explanation of the nature of the best shift in variable $n$, in order to obtain ``nice'' asymptotic expansions. We also give a complete asymptotic expansion of partial sums of these sequences.

Heatwave intensity drives eco‐physiological responses in infaunal bivalves: A mesocosm experiment

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, EarlyView.
Abstract Marine heatwaves are increasing globally in intensity and duration. To investigate the potential consequences for coastal ecosystems, the effects of short‐term heat stress must be better understood. This study examined eco‐physiological responses in two common intertidal bivalves, Cerastoderma edule and Macoma balthica, to different heatwave ...
