GHRHR Deficiency Enhances Retinal Ganglion Cell Survival and Visual Functions in Experimental Glaucoma by Inhibiting Ferroptosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Glaucoma, a major cause of blindness, involves retinal ganglion cell (RGC) degeneration. This study shows growth hormone‐releasing hormone receptor (GHRHR) deficiency preserves RGC survival and restores vision, unlike activation which only aids survival.

Genome-wide association analyses identify multiple loci associated with central corneal thickness and keratoconus

open access: yesNature Genetics, 2013
Central corneal thickness (CCT) is associated with eye conditions including keratoconus and glaucoma. We performed a meta-analysis on >20,000 individuals in European and Asian populations that identified 16 new loci associated with CCT at genome-wide ...

Keratoconus-susceptibility gene identification by corneal thickness genome-wide association study and artificial intelligence IBM Watson

open access: yesCommunications Biology, 2020
Keratoconus is a common ocular disorder that causes progressive corneal thinning and is the leading indication for corneal transplantation. Central corneal thickness (CCT) is a highly heritable characteristic that is associated with keratoconus.

The Host Cell Factor Phosphatase‐2A Subunit PR130 Restricts Replication of Herpes Simplex Virus Type‐1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Molecular, genetic, virological, and biochemical analysis in combination with global proteome and phosphoproteome profiling and functional assays were applied to study the role of PR130 in the context of HSV‐1 replication. The observations reveal that host‐intrinsic mechanisms regulate HSV‐1 replication and highlight PR130 as a susceptibility factor of

Distribution of Central Corneal Thickness and its Association with Ocular Parameters in a Large Central European Cohort: The Gutenberg Health Study

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
Main objective To evaluate the distribution of central corneal thickness (CCT) in a large German cohort and to analyse its relationship with intraocular pressure and further ocular factors. Design Population-based, prospective, cohort study.

A Viscous DES‐AAV‐Foxo1 Delivery System With High Transfection Efficiency for the Treatment of Corneal Endothelial Dysfunction by Restoring Mitochondria‐ER Contacts

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
High glucose triggers corneal endothelial dysfunction by impairing FOXO1‐mediated ITPR1 transcription, leading to disrupted mitochondria‐associated membrane (MAM) integrity and defective ER‐to‐mitochondria Ca2+ transfer. This study develops an innovative viscous DES‐AAV‐Foxo1 delivery system with enhanced transfection efficiency. This non‐invasive gene

Single‐Cell Annotation and Localization via Integrating Spatial Transcriptomics Maps the Mouse Ocular Atlas and RAO Dynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We developed the ASCAL pipeline, integrating complementary spatial transcriptomics, to construct a high‐fidelity mouse whole‐eye single‐cell atlas. Applying ASCAL to a retinal artery occlusion (RAO) model revealed spatially restricted immune activation localized to the ganglion cell layer and the selective depletion of a translationally active, outer ...

Relationship between central corneal thickness, intra ocular pressure and visual field in normal tension and primary open angle glaucoma

open access: yesمجله دانشگاه علوم پزشکی گرگان, 2012
Background and Objective: Glaucoma is one of the most important cause of blindness wordwide. Exact determination of intra ocular pressure is important for the diagnosis and decision making about glaucoma treatment. Central corneal thickness is considered

Intrinsically Mitochondria‐Targeting Nanozyme via Coordination‐Assembly of Natural Quercetin for Cascade Antioxidant Therapy of Cerebral Ischemia‐Reperfusion Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study uncovers that quercetin naturally targets mitochondria. By coordinating quercetin with Fe3+, we engineer an ultrasmall cascade nanozyme (MCN) with superoxide dismutase‐catalase activities. MCN crosses the damaged blood–brain barrier, scavenges mitochondrial ROS, prevents mitochondrial DNA leakage, and blocks the cGAS‐STING pathway, thereby ...
