Taking advantage of a new hydraulic infrastructure to study the sediment yield in a small basin of central Spain

open access: yesCuadernos de Investigación Geográfica, 2014
Predicting the sediment yield at a catchment scale is one of the main challenges regarding fluvial geomorphology, however, it involves some difficulties.

Extensional orogenic collapse captured by strike-slip tectonics: constrains from structural geology and U-Pb geochronology of the Pinhel shear zone (Variscan orogen, Iberian Massif)

open access: yes, 2016
The late Paleozoic collision between Gondwana and Laurussia resulted in the polyphase deformation and magmatism that characterizes the Iberian Massif of the Variscan orogen.

Primary Au prospecting results in the Logrosán area (Central Iberian Zone, Spain).

open access: yesJournal of Iberian Geology, 2015
The Central Iberian Zone presents an exceptional geological interest for its great exploration potential for a number of elements including gold. Metallogeny within the area is mainly related to regional metamorphism and late magmatic activity during the Variscan orogeny. In 2013-2014 junior company Mineral Exploration Network Ltd.

Behavioral, Ecological, and Morphological Data Suggest a Close Relationship Between the Ant Colobopsis truncata and the Gall Wasp Aphelonyx cerricola

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
Aphelonyx cerricola and the different stages that make this gall colonizable by ants. ABSTRACT Wasps of the family Cynipidae are known to induce galls of a species‐specific morphology, which during senescence provide a refuge for secondary insect fauna, especially ants.

Recent evolution of alternative reproductive modes in the 'living fossil' Triops cancriformis

open access: yesBMC Evolutionary Biology, 2007
Background The Notostraca is a small but ancient crustacean order with a contrasting combination of a conservative morphology and a wide range of reproductive modes.

Granitoide der europäischen Varisziden : ein Einblick in ihre Platznahme- und tektonometamorphe Geschichte

open access: yes, 2008
This work analyses several granitic bodies of the Variscan Orogen of Central and Western Europe in order to improve our knowledge about different aspects of their evolution, regarding their ascent and emplacement mechanisms, as well as their deformation ...

Cambrian-Ordovician Transition in the Northern Domains of Central-Iberian Zone; Tectonics Constrains

open access: yes, 2021
In the northern sectors of the Central-Iberian Zone the transition of the Lower Ordovician over the underlying sequences always shows evidence of the Toledanian phase. The effects of this pre-Armorican Quartzites deformation are highly heterogeneous.

Geological Substrate Is Related to Tooth Senescence and Population Dynamic: The Case Study of Alpine Chamois (Rupicapra rupicapra L.)

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
In Alpine chamois, the complete wear of the first molar coincides with the beginning of senescence and the progress of tooth wear on calcareous substrate is slower than the one on other substrates, increasing life expectancy. Thus, the first molar wear may actually be considered as an effective descriptor of senescence stage.

Body Size Regulates Niche Overlap Asymmetry in the Subtropical Andes Rain Shadow: Isotopic Paleoecology of Oligocene South American Ungulates

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
This study provides the first isotopic analysis of Oligocene mammals from Quebrada Fiera, Mendoza, Argentina, filling a major gap in South American paleontology. It reveals a latitudinal gradient in aridity due to the Andean rain shadow and highlights the role of (semi)permanent water bodies in sustaining diverse herbivore communities. Additionally, it

Lower Devonian faunas and palynomorphs from the Dornes Syncline (Central Iberian Zone, Portugal): stratigraphical and paleogeographical implications

open access: yesCarnets de Géologie, 2010
In the Dornes syncline, southern Central Iberian Zone, Portugal, the uppermost levels of the Serra do Luação Formation up to now have been considered to be of Pridoli-Lochkovian?
