Veterinary Research Communications, 1988Seven cases of scrapie were encountered in six flocks of local breeds of sheep in central and southern Italy. Scrapie has never been reported in these areas, in which the great majority of the Italian sheep population is concentrated. The diagnosis was based on clinical and histopathological findings.
