Lower miocene sediments of the Maikop group in the Central Eastern Paratethys
Lithology and Mineral Resources, 2006The composite section of upper Maikop sediments compiled for the central part of the Eastern Paratethys is presented. The section (more than 1000 m) comprises the Karadzhalgan, Sakaraulian, and Kotsakhurian regional stages. The lower boundary of the Miocene drawn at the base of the Karadzhalgan regional stage is unambiguous only in the southern part of

Gratkorn: A benchmark locality for the continental Sarmatian s.str. of the Central Paratethys
International Journal of Earth Sciences, 2010This paper presents one of the richest and most complete vertebrate faunas of the late Middle Miocene (~12 Ma) of Central Europe. Up to now, sixty-two vertebrate taxa, comprising all major groups (fishes, amphibians, reptiles, birds, mammals), have been recorded.

Miocene Central Paratethys stratigraphy – current status and future directions
Stratigraphy, 2007The complex geodynamic history of the Paratethys periodically fostered the evolution of a highly endemic biota with only limited exchange between the neighboring Mediterranean and Indo-Pacific provinces. The resulting very peculiar fossil assemblages forced the introduction of a regional chronostratigraphic subdivision for the Western/Central and ...

Zootaxa
We revise the Miocene Epitoniidae of the Central Paratethys Sea and summarize literature data for the Eastern Paratethys Sea. In total we trace 106 species level taxa of which 54 species are formally introduced as new species, six species are probably new but discussed in open nomenclature and 16 species are documented as new combinations. This results

Abstract A new species assigned to the genus Elofsonia Wagner, 1957 , is described from the Upper Badenian (Serravallian) of Gliwice, Fore-Carpathian Depression, southern Poland. E. hornei n. sp. is the first species of Elofsonia recorded from the Paratethys and the first Miocene representative of the genus. The features of the carapace of E.

Palaeogeography, Palaeoclimatology, Palaeoecology, 2004
Abstract The stable isotopes of carbon and oxygen were used to provide information of mixing of marine and freshwater and subsequently used to determine palaeosalinities. In the Middle to Late Miocene St. Margarethen “Zollhaus” section (Upper Sarmatian “Mactra Zone”/Pannonian), a succession of three gastropod assemblages indicates changing ...

DRILLING PREDATION IN MOLLUSKS FROM THE LOWER AND MIDDLE MIOCENE OF THE CENTRAL PARATETHYS
PALAIOS, 2011Drilling predation is among the most studied biotic interactions in the fossil record, and its overall patterns are well established on Cenozoic mollusks from North America. Few studies have examined such predation in Europe, which experienced a different geologic history.

Cretaceous evolution of the Central Asian Proto-Paratethys Sea
2020The timing and mechanisms of the Cretaceous sea incursions into Central Asia are still poorly constrained. We provide a new chronostratigraphic framework based on biostratigraphy and magnetostratigraphy together with detailed paleoenvironmental analyses of Cretaceous records of the proto-Paratethys Sea fluctuations in the Tajik and Tarim basins.

Disintegration of the Central Paratethys and origin of the Lake Pannon
2017U poglavlju je opisan stotinjak metara debeli slijed naslaga na kopu Vranović u cementari u Našicama. Donjih petnaestak metara slijeda pripada najmlađim srednjemiocenskim marinskim sedimentima, a sadrži i sloj tufa. Ostatak slijeda koji je kontinuirano taložen na sarmatske sedimenta, čine vapnenci i lapori mlađeg miocena koji su taloženi u boćatom ...
